Hi all. I have installed Starcraft on my Toshiba laptop, but there is a large black border around it when I start the game, making the resolution small and I can't even play it, it's so damn small.
How do I make it full screen?

With some display cards you need to change settings, the games are spose to change the settings for you, but some times you need to, some of the newer cards the older games cant talk to in some regards and vice versa.
Have a look a look at display settings (right click on the desktop and select properties, choose the settings tab)
I think it will be on 1024x768 or above, you will need to change the seeting to 800 x 600 and it should go away
Starcraft Runs in 640x480... Try that display setting first -- after your done playing, switch it back...
Otherwise, not sure what to tell you... Have you checked Blizzard's support site? And this belongs in the Tech Annex

Putting my computer at a lower resolution will make look even smaller.
Please help!
Have you actually tried putting it to 640x480? Or not? Becuase Starcraft runs in default in 640x480, but sometimes, especially on laptops, the total resoultion does not change (thus leaving you with a tiny starcraft screen). Otherwise you should check out www.blizzard.com/support/ as there has to be an issue on this already...

some lap tops have a border/no border setting in the bios as well.
Though why you would want a border, i dont know.

I think it is a border BIOS issue...how do I solve this?

to enter bios on a desktop u hit the DEL key during post
with laptops it is usually F1
or ALT + F1
or ESC
or TAB + F1
You know working in the feild I use to really find laptops a pain in the butt
Yes they are definetly annoying. I havent used one since forever, so my suggestions probably wont help to much.
But were you able to get into the bios? Check your manual/laptop's support site for info on how to get into it. USually its just delete for pcs, but... meh. Stupid laptops. I swear >_<

I still think he should at least TRY changing the resolution...that could be the problem. (And lowering your resolution makes things BIGGER, not smaller).

I have a half-old laptop where I can change if I want the screen to be stretched
to the (physical) screen or if it should leave black borders.
Your keybord do most likley have a key named fn (in blue) or something like that,
with which you reach the numpad, and a lot of other functions like in/decreasing
brightness/contrast and such. I can reach the above function by pressing
[fn]+[F7] and F7 is labeled "Font" (in blue)
SpeedKing, I run my SC in a laptop with a 14 inches (37 cms for the Euopean fellas like myself) screen and it runs smoothly with a 1024 x 768 and a 32 bits True colours definition in it's monitor properties. The game works in full screen all the time, even when I change it's monitor properties. Thus, it must be somethin' related your OS config or, as someone already said, a BIOS thingy. Those latest usually are major drags to fix (especially if you don't have a BIOS source to gather knowledge/update from). >_<
And why (do I run SC in a laptop you may question)? 'Cause it's my main PC, don't ask. ;)
Good luck with it and please let us know.
Welcome to WB's, btw. Hope you enjoy the stay 'round here to come back more often. :)

The key you press to get into the CMOS is related to what brand and version your BIOS is, not whether it's a laptop or pc. Regardless, when your computer loads look for a message that says "press f1" or some other key or whatever, at the very beginning.
