Hey I was wondering, would it be possible to emulate xbox on a computer connected to the interne, and to connect to XBL and play the games on your computer against xbox players?

That would be sweet and I'll bet someone smart will figure out how to do it.

That would be illegal on so many levels that I don't think it would ever happen, besides, Xbox Live is tied in with the hardware so it would never be possible without Microsoft's grace.

Yeah, sure it's tied in with the hardware but I'm sure there's a way of reverse engineering or whatever, figuring out what the hardware is and how it works and such, I mean, after all that's how emulators are created, right? And yeah it's illegal but man would it be cool.

When you modify an Xbox in any way (adding software such as Linux, modifing hardware etc.) it automatically knows and locks you out from XBL. No doubt the operating system on Xbox has some sort of code interwoven into the core processes that it'd instantly pick up on the fact that it's NOT running on an Xbox and probably just shut down, not to mention the fact it's probably impossible to connect to XBL without the actual Xbox. Plus, why would you buy an XBL account without an Xbox :O?

I have seen emulators for PS1 and PS2 but not xbox, but I do know you can mod them with out getting locked out, no such thing as "unhackable".
When its hard it just takes a bit longer, attempts at full proof security usually will lead to random lock outs, users get very upset with that.

Microsoft has actually had a few successful encryptions/whatever lately, but I would not be surprised if there was an XBOX emulator out there.

Thought I wouldn't be surprised if Xbox emulators eventually supported other forms of multiplayer. (ie: something similar to XBL, but like, not the same. I don't know >_> don't ask me I just woke up!)
