I recently got a new computer, and I want to continue trying my hand at asm coding for Starcraft. Unfortunately for me, it runs XP, and I have read many times that stargraft doesn't work on it.

Regardless, will using XP's compatibility features (the one that makes the program think it is running on an older OS) allow it to work then? I haven't read anything relating to this.
If that won't work, how do I install Windows ME without having to choose which OS to run every time I turn on my computer? E.g. forcing me to boot with a floppy before I can choose to run ME? I've never installed two OSes on the same computer so I don't know if this can be done.

My computer is currently running Windows XP Professional with SP2 and I have admin rights on it.

Since it is new, I don't want to do anything that is likely to harm it, but I will take some risks.

I am not overly sure about Stargraft... Haven't used it myself for a long... make that a long-long time...

I don't think its possible... But does Stargraft itself not run -- the program -- or just the Uhm... Patches it makes?

Memgraft might help, but I have no idea what I am talking about :)

The executable should run, but the patches will not. If this is not true, then something weird is going on - Stargraft ran fine on my XP box.

Memgraft (http://www.stormcoast-fortress.net/gaming/starcraft/programs/memgraft/download/) should resolve this issue.

I've found the installation file for stargraft and tested this myself. It runs, but I get the following message:
Starcraft is unable to read a required file. Your Starcraft CD may not be in the CDROM drive. Please ensure that the Starcraft disc is in the CDROM drive and press OK. To leave the program, press Exit.
I also tried it with the compatibility stuff, and that didn't work :(

Memgraft does custom button code too? If so, which version of Memgraft and Starcraft, and what are the new offsets. I only have the ones for BW 1.07.
