Hi all. New here, so um, bear with me. I've been playing Starcraft for the better part of 3 years now, and school started, so I hadn't had a lot of time to play.

So, I come back, and see the Blizzard and Battle.net updates have been released.

"Cool," I said. So, I downloaded and sun-shiny rainbows and rabbits dancing and birds sing and I live happily ever after with updated Starcraft, right?

NO.

Instead, I go into a game, and after about 10-15 minutes, I get this:

Data File Error

Starcraft was unable to open a required file. If this problem persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling Starcraft using the program
"SETUP.EXE" on the Starcraft CD-ROM.

The problem occurred while trying to load a file
D:\Install.exe
The system cannot find the drive specified.

I'm not a newb to computers, but I try following this anyway. No dice. I ask Blizzard. No response. I did the genius thing - Google the same thing for an answer. It took me to here, but the guy who posted something like this before was using StarEdit or something. Me? I'm just playing the game.

What's up?

Need computer specs?

Gateway
Intel Pentium 4 1.40 GHz (Don't insult me!)
512 MB RAM
Page File: Generally using 300 MB, 785 MB Available
Using DirectX 9.0c
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 32 MB (1280 X 1024, 32 bit 60 Hz)
Creative Sound Blaster 128D

Not my choice of computer - the parents chose it. (My custom one comes in like eight months, once I get the money.)

So um, yeah. Help would be the awesome sauce.

I was afraid of that. Where should I post this?

Probably the debriefing room. As for advice, just reinstall it.

Um...it looks like you're not putting your CD in when you play Starcraft. N/o, but you did put the CD in or tried uninstalling it right?

How many times has it happened? For all you know, someone could have just drop-hacked you.

Basically, it happens every time I play. To answer Paladin, yes, I did uninstall and reinstall a bunch of times - no avail.
