Has anyone been watching the this?, or has everyone been disapointed by this latest version of battlestar? (only on for the first time a few weeks ago in Oz)
I didnt think much of the movie, but for some reason i have still been watching the series, I couple of them I have really enjoyed and I do like the darker more evil representation of the Cylons.
What do you think?

Well, considering I saw all the episodes earlier this year, and also considering that I never saw the old BSG, I love the new series.

I'm just itching to see the new episodes that come out in June.

I've seen some of the original episodes, and I enjoy them. I've also seen a few newer episodes, they're good to. But I do agree that the new Cylons are WAY cooler then the original. Plus they kept the cool Cylon visor thing. :) Overall the new series does justice to the original. Although I prefer the original Cylon raiders.

I watched the pilot a few years ago. Caught an episode or two last year. It looks good from what I've seen, although the old was very good. Too bad they only made one season.

I like it.

I have been wondering, were the books or the shows first?

I have never seen the original series, and thus I have nothing to compare the new Sci-Fi series with... but I personally like it.
I like the depiction of the dark future and the cylons, as well as the gritty feel of all craft and technology. But the reason why it won me is that it shows events more realistically, and thus more believably, than any other space-age sci-fi I have ever seen. Yes, there is some high-tech stuff, like "jumping", but for the most part, it lacks that ourageously sci-fi feel, which I think is a good thing. Bullets are still used over lasers, for example.

The show is definitely my favorite, and I will try and watch the next season, ignoring my promise not to succumb to popular culture's demands :)
