Right now, my favourite rock bands are (drum roll):

What about you?

Dude Nuts I think you have the best list of anyone here. Adding on it, I must put
Chuck Berry
Eric Clapton/Cream
Meat Loaf
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Bon Jovi
May I borrow the last two for my list as well. ;)
I remember selling my "Slippery when wet" cassette for $5 in high school to buy lunch.

You should say Bon Jovi. Anyway, my favorite bands are:
AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Linkin Park, and Pink Floyd.
Linkin Park IS a rock band. Metallica is a heavy metal band. Jon Bon Jovi is NOT a band. Enough said.
Linkin Park is not a traditional rock band. They may want to be a rock band, and the dolts at Rolling Stone may have lumped them into the rock category, but rap/rock is not rock and roll, never will be. The same goes for Limp Bizkit. And I don't care if anyone agrees with me, so don't bother trying to convince me otherwise.
Secondly, Bon Jovi has been a band for the past 20 years, where have you been? Ever heard of Richie Sambora? Tico Torres? David Bryan?
Slipknot
Disturbed
Korn
Linkin Park
Rob Zombie
Rammstien
Three Days Grace
System of a Down
Mettalica
Marilyn Manson
Papa Roach
Not in any order :P

Band - A group of people who play instruments.
Bon Jovi is a SINGULAR person, and therefore not a band.

Bon Jovi is a SINGULAR person, and therefore not a band.
Bon Jovi isn't even a real name, it's a stage name, it's also his last name, which is used synonymously with the name of the band. Jon Bon Jovi is the full stage name for the lead singer (John Bongiovi), Bon Jovi is the name of the band. Get your facts straight youngin. ;)
If you don't believe me, get it from the horses mouth.
http://www.islandrecords.com/bonjovi/theband.lasSo, when John Bongiovi finally signed to Mercury Records (several record companies had suddenly come around and tried to sign the young musician,) the band’s line-up was as it would remain for more than ten years: JOHN BONGIOVI, DAVE BRYAN, TICO TORRES, ALEC JOHN SUCH and RICHIE SAMBORA. Following label advice, John shed the “h” from his first name and de-ethnicized his last name. He re-emerged as JON BON JOVI and the band BON JOVI was born.

*Looks up to see what hovering sound is* http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Roflcopter.gifOmg (http://members.cox.net/pimpbot9000/roflcopter.gif), it has landed.
Side note: At least next time research before 'spewing' stuff like that. *Hint, hint* ;)
Those guys were one's that I most hated in my 80's period. Imao, they're only Pop-Rock sub-genre and not even suited to be compared to fellas such Van Halen, MotorHead, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin & the Big Brother Holding Company, Black Sabath, Doors, etc. etc.
My list is (including all of the above):
- Metallica
- Rammstein
- Korn
- Nirvana
- Pearl Jam
- Placebo
- Police (who could I almost forgot these?)
- Guano Apes
- MoonSpell (countrymen of mine, currently livin' in Germany where they're famous)
- Anthrax
- Blind Zero (another bunch from my 'side of the block', aka country)
- Sepultura (from the old vocalist and not all of their tunes)
- SoundGarden (now 'deceased')
- Stiltskins (and their only album "Mind's Eye", 'dead as well)
- Gun's n' Roses
- U2 (oldies mainly)
- Green Day (mainly "Dookie" album)
- Stone Temple Pilots (some tunes)
- AC/DC (a few musics)
- Those who have glimpsed from my mind at the moment (and eventually will be posted later). :P
(May I remind that dig their tunes and ain't always fond of the band, it's members or even their attitude. If you want details of wich I really like both as in band and musics, simply ask me. :smirk: )
Since this is a bands thread I won't name any Rock fellas (exception to Hendrix 'cause he's so great). And please don't come hammering me for sub-genres since to me Rock includes Metal, Grunge and all that subsequent paraphernalia. :)
freedom Call could be classed as rock if you stretch the definition a bit.
And if Led Zepplin are getting classed as rock (I wouldnt for the most part, but meh) then them too
My absolute Fav Rock band is: AC-DC... and GreenDay

Linkin Park????Lol. Its more like wanna be rock/ rap.
Simple Plan? Yuck. Just yuck.
I like Punk Rock more than just plain rock. The difference between rock and punk is that punk's beat is much, much faster.
Fav bands: Green Day, Casualties, NOFX (NOFX RULES ALL PUNK), Led Zeppelin, few songs by Jimi HEndrix
...
- Those who have glimpsed from my mind at the moment (and eventually will be posted later). :P
Followin' that I'll add a few:
- Manowar (how could I forget that mix of melodical n' speed metal beats? *Sigh*)
- Linkin Park (altough they're classified in 'my book' as a Rap/Metal combo sound)
- Cypress Hill (lately they've followed the Rock trend and got more beat into their Rap, but I don't consider'em exactly inside this genre as similar to Linkin Park)

-Muse (i dont know if that is rock)
-Interpol
-Franz Ferdinand
-Keane (they use a piano instead of a guitar, so I dont know if that is rock too)
-U2
-My Chemical Romance
-The Postal Service
