If you're talking about melee games, I played one Terran vs Terran game. The other guy turtled in a made a defence that covered half the map, and I couldn't get enough resources to penetrate it. That game lasted around 45 minutes before I surrendered.

UMS games can take much longer. I spent 3 hours or so trying to finish Nozomu's New Wrath RPG.

why would water units be needed if air is there?Air can reach all the places and faster than going by water.

Ive been in 4-5 hour games, UMS Diplomacy maps take quite a while.

4 hours... and that was one hellava game too. It was a money map, however. I doubt resources wold last 4 hours in LT or something like that.

I dunno if this is good (lol) but i played from about 10AM to 5PM, on one saturday. It was me and my friend and 6 other comps...I have no clue how or why we played that long....it was crazy!! hahaha

I once had a 5 hour game, but it was a multi-island map and turret walls were all the rage. So many damn suicide runs and in the end it was due to lack of resources that the game concluded. me and some othere dude lost to a guy who kept mobile where as we had large established bases and there for a limited cash. Mantaining turret walls and launching counter suciside runs was the main focus, not hunting some one who left us alone pretty much.
