Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk. (Pronounced "Paula-Nick." ;))

If you read fast and/or you set aside at least an hour a day for reading it, you might just finish before Spring Break is over (that is, assuming that the "holidays" you speak of is Spring Break). But don't just read it to get your dad off your back -- it's a really good book, better than the movie. Books always are better than the movie. ;)

HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy Series, all by Douglas Adams.

Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Congo, The Andromeda Strain, Timeline, all by Michael Chrichton

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

Needful Things, The Green Mile by Steven King

I enjoyed reading all of those, you ought to find at least one you like.
The Hitchhiker Series is good if you arn't much for heavy reading.

As TheGreatBrain said, The Hitchhiker's Guide would keep you actively reading for the break, and I'm 100% sure you'd love it :). Everyone loves it!

If you don't want to get into the big series, you could always read one of Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s books. He writes much like Douglas Adams does, and has similar themes :D.

If you're looking for something on a more depressing/serious note, there's always 1984, and The Clockwork Orange, both which are great reads :D.

Read the first 3 in the THGttG. The 4th one didn't make much sense and i couldn't get throught the 5th one. I would reccomend Ender's Game and Shade's Children. Both are very good books and fairly easy.

BoxCar Children mystery books. Mostly the stuff prior to Gertrude Chandler Warner's death. You don't want to read anything that isn't completely written by her.

If you don't want to read some of the best books of all time then i'll suggest you take a look at Brave New World or some Ayn Rand stuff...

The Stand (Unabridged) by Stephen King

A book about a world thrown into chaos. A very long book that will keep you avidly reading for another month (at least). Duddits has read 4 times and probably has clocked in almost 5 months of his life absorbed in it.

God damn I wish I could read as fast as you. It took me over a year to read LotR, and I suspect it'll be a similar figure for the time it takes me to read The Stand. I started reading it last week and I'm at chapter 5.

Man. Needful Things was over 750 pages, but The Stand was a little thick even for me.

The Stand = 1153 pages
Needful Things = 690 pages

Duddits too has read Needful Things, a great read, but pales in comparision to The Stand.

690? I could have sworn it was at least 700. Oh well...

Maybe you had an unabridged version and he didn't?

He must have, cause I'm holding my copy in my hands right now, and it's 736 pages.

Oh well, it still was a great book.

BTW... abrideged Stand is about 700 or so pages... Unabridged is about 100,000 words longer, or about 500 pages

His Dark Materials series by Phillip Pullman. I think the books are called The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass. Pretty good reads, ive read them multiple times.
