Fred, maybe you can download a text filtering program (I'm sure one exists) and ask if it would be okay to check out WB with one of them?

theXenon's sig was a short slide show. The first few frames showed depressed looking people with standard concerned commercial text like "are you feeling down?" "is sadness a day to day problem?", and the last frame suggested they kill themselves with a Smith & Wesson revolver. The tasteless sig was made in response to his "Is Suicide OK?" thread.

I'm not sure how thoroughly your mother looked through WarBoards posts, but as WarBoards is a PG-13 forum swearing is quite rare. Although swearing does happen now and then, it is generally few and far between.

When certain individuals decide to begin swearing in excess, their posts are edited to remove the vulgarities and they are warned/punished appopriately. In order to facilitate this, WarBoards has an active staff dedicated to maintaining the PG-13 forum atmosphere.

I doubt Fred will begin picking up vulgarities in his common vocabulary, simply due to the fact that we don't allow that sort of language here. I'm sincerely hoping that Fred's ban is not due to a certain thread that was dealt with within hours of being posted...

around 90% of the users here are undr 18 years, swearing is never tolerated unless it is partially censored with * so that younger people iwll not know the meaning unless they have heard that word from somewhere else which can not be from this site.

Fred I suspect that your mother, like all other mothers is too overcaring, tell her to sit on the diplomacy chair and start negotiations, because as the saying goes " That which is not allowed is that which I most earn for...".

Absolutely pathetic...

I am literally disgusted with the censorship we are forced to maintain now days... It's utterly pathetic... A single breast is displayed upon a football game and there is a nation white fuss... A single person swears on public television or radio and they are fined... Any movie with any hint of sexual content or extreme language...has to be on HBO or other such channels. This is ridiculous.

I am 21 and I was never punished for swearing... My mother's motto was, "As long as you are not swearing at me in a degrading manner, like saying F U to her, then it didn't matter. I was given a lot of freedom and I turned out relatively decent I think. I don't drink often...only with friends. I don't smoke... I do swear, but oh well...so does the rest of the world. And I have never once hit a woman...save for playfully.

What happens when these parents are overprotective with their children? Well, if it's a little girl nine times out of ten if she's sheltered once she hits an age where she knows she can sneak around...she's slept with more men then I have women, smokes, and prolly does drugs as well. If it's a guy...well who knows...typically the same thing and also trouble with authority...they wish to rebel.

I love how these overprotective parents will shelter their kids from this and actually think it will make a difference... I learned most of my swear words from school. What's this woman going to do...homeschool her kid? Heh let her...what will happen is he'll end up running away due to being so confined...or kill himself like some people I know have for JUST this reason...being held to such high standards by their parents. A kid from my school was forced to play football and also had other activities he was forced into by his father...to keep him out of trouble. Not only this but he was expected to maintain A's and nothing less... The kid ended up hanging himself due to all the stress...

What do these people think? Most of the time these kids will end up learning about sex due to catching their parents doing something...though none of these parents will admit to it... Most likely they will say, "Oh no...we lock our doors at night". Well, you very well might...doesn't help when your heard through the friggan walls....

Bottom line is that when a kid is sheltered they either rebel and become VERY chaotic...or they kill themselves... One or the other...I have not met a single child who was sheltered that didn't do one or the other of those two choices.

And if she ends up reading my VF profile and seeing how messed up I am and accounts that for me not being sheltered, no my mind warping is due to being raped by my aunt when I was rather young.


If this post is too...well out of line...feel free to delete it. I attempted to keep as much swearing out as possible but don't know how many times if any I have slipped. As for the content...I know it's a bit out of the under eighteen category...but as you can tell I am NOT one for censorship and restrictive parents. I was left to make my own mistakes and I did... I tried weed and ended up getting ahold of laced pot...I never tried it again. I tried smoking...and I hated the taste with a passion... I drink only with friends because I hate getting wasted...actually I hate anything that dulls the mind too much.

Yea, I don't like the taste of Beer or Wine either...hate it. I do however love Mike's Hard Lemonaid. That suff taste awsome...but it won't get me drunk. The only thing that does that is Goldenschlagger...that's the only other alcholic drink I endulge in on occasion.

And as for the smoking...yea I have a friend the same way. Her mother (well the one she considered more of a mother then her own) died from lung cancer. She just recently tried smoking and she's....17 now I think?

So not only did we only see one another every so often...but she was Christian as are her parents...and I...well...I'm agnostic and look like I'm satanic. Her parents hated me and always tried to break us up... To top it all off she got preg to me twice...so I had to worry about that and what to do about it...always left it up to her on if she wanted to keep em or not... Then she miscarried both times...that also caused stress....Not to mention the fact that I fear Death a GREAT deal. I fear not existing and since I don't have a religion I am always wondering what lies beyond death...and that alone causes panic attacks if I don't suppress it. This all hit me at once one night... I was in the car with my mother because she wanted me to go on an errand with her...well all of a sudden it felt like I was slipping out of...how to explain this...it felt like I was loosing my grip on reality. My body started to go through numb flashes... I began to shake like I was having a seizure... I went through hot and cold flashes...

I was taken to the hospital and they thought I was on drugs...after the Indian Dr. took my blood and screened it for drugs he called me a hypochondriac and sent me on my way... I spent three months laying in bed thinking I was dying...wanted to dye... Everything I ate or drank I threw up... After the three months I got a little better...was able to eat and drink again... Went to school but every time after first period I nearly blacked out cause the halls would spin... It's three years later and I still am fighting a little with panic attacks and anxiety. But we're fine now :P

I won't make this topic about religion. I'll just say the following:

"The only ones whom know what lies beyond death are the dead."

That is how I feel. I'm agnostic meaning I don't disbelieve nor believe in any given religion or idea of what comes after death... Any single one of them could be possible because we have no way of proving or disproving any of them.

As for what's wrong with me... I won't see a psychiatrist...I believe them to be after one thing...your money. I am told I am very manipulative and good at getting into peoples heads. I have had many tell me I have helped them with their problems or understand them better then anyone else... My motto for myself is I prefer to work on my own mental problems. My best guess as to anything being wrong with me mentally is:

ADHD (A girl I know whom is diagnosed with this gave me I think 22 symptoms her Dr gave to her on a paper...I have all but one.)
Borderline Personality Disorder
Slight Hypochondria (After the breakdown I flipped and thought EVERYTHING was wrong with me...now I fixed it and only do that on RARE occasions.)

I figured out some better answers. I'm addicted to eating. A 10-pack of smokes costs about 30 bucks. At least, when my dad bought them. Let me tell you a little of my life history...

I was 10 years old and my dad worked at a resturant. (He already has a well-paying job, I have not clue why he was working in that resturant...) He would come home with a box of Chinese food(Mmm....food) and a 10/20 pack of cigarette. I didn't know anything about cigarettes except that when my dad was angry, he would stand outside and smoke a couple. Later, I learned that when my mother was pregnant, he sometime smoked inside the house. This might explain why I have chronic nose problems. Anyway, he quit a couple of years ago, just by one day saying, "You know what? I think I'm going to quit smoking." Unless, he covers up his tracks up really good at work, he's has great determination.

Now, I would not buy drugs, which cost who-knows-how-much. I would instead buy a nice steak dinner at Black Angus. (Drools...) Or a nice bucket of chicken(Mmm....fried chicken.). One of the main reason I won't EVER smoke is because of how much it costs.Another is that I don't want my future children to get Asthma because of me.Every Ciggarate you smoke takes 7 minutes off your life.
