I am not sure what type of spam you are talking about. Can you give us an example?

In any case, IRC is a chatroom, and that is all it is. Most of the content that isn't acceptable in a forum, IS in a chatroom. Therefore, I don't think that we need to be so serious about the spamming.

I don't think it should have that much of a punishment, but maybe a 2 day ban or something. It is extremely annoying and people need to learn not to do it, even though it is a chatroom.

Wait how do you notice the spam, most of the time your always idle(or so I think).

Although I agree with Seal on the annoying part, I believe making IRC spam an punishable on a full network scale is a bit too much. I mean, it sounds a bit farfetched to me... getting banned from SC.org, for example just for going

Tempbanning from the channel more often seems a bit more logical to me...

The few people that do spam are usually banned for 2-3 days per offence. I will, however, be more active in my effort to cease pointless spam in the IRC channel. Thanks for the input :).

People think that just because no one is currently talking in the channel that it's OK to spam and flood and say whatever they hell you want, but that's wrong. People like Seal have the thing on beep and it's quite annoying, it makes my logfiles bigger, it's a bad habit and it encourages bad behavior, plus y'all should find something better to do.

If you have to spam that shit go to an empty channel please. And Radlin maybe you should get rid of that !say command Innkeeper has..

That's something that's been annoying me a bit of late - people spamming InnKeeper (or OrangeJuice or whatever he's called at the moment) commands. Maybe write a script that makes him ignore people who use x commands within y amount of time?

People would really spam less if there were discussions in the IRC... you should try instead to give +Ojuice interesting commands that can liven up all the afk people there, like better trivia with quastions about Blizzard games instead of random historical fact that no one knows etc.

Would you like to contribute trivia questions to the trivia bots? Both mine and Radlin's bot use the same Trivia basically, and I havent been able to find any already made blizzard trivia sets... So, want to help make a new question set? ;P

No problem, how many quastions do I need to make?

Hundreds.

I could probably chip in a few myself, come to think of it. Some of the lesser-known Blizzard trivia ;)

IRC Channel doesn't work for me, is there some special place you have to go?

You have to have an IRC client.
So go get chatzilla for Firefox or mIRC as a stand-alone application.

There are instructions in the FAQ section on both sc.org and warboards.

Note: Radlin hijacking Anna's computer (too lazy to sign out)
And Radlin maybe you should get rid of that !say command Innkeeper has..
The command is really quite harmless. If that command wasn't there, the people would just spam the other triggers he has (which some already do, mind you). If all of his triggers were disabled, people would just spam by themselves. Taking out the one command wouldn't cease the spam.

Maybe write a script that makes him ignore people who use x commands within y amount of time?
That'd be a great idea :). However, I have no clue how to do any 'real' IRC coding. I can do simple remote triggers. If someone does know how to do this, feel free to PM me the code for Applejuice.

Mmm . . . I used to have a random fact generator for that purpose. I can't find it anymore though :/. I also helped make a 500 question warcraft trivia in anticipation of World of Warcraft for a WoW IRC channel. Not sure where that went either :P.

Anyway, the problem with creating our own trivia is that the people that create the trivia already know the answers. Perhaps if only a few people got together to create a Warboards (including Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo & Flagship) trivia, we'd have something.

Battlenet has this very effective thing that automatically disconnects a person after posting about ten comments in a row. Or if they exceed a certain character limit within three posts. Maybe that'll work on the IRC. But yeah, we need a strong topic to focus on, otherwise Mag would just take over the IRC if we're not careful. =_= I still renember those "incidents" with the "fire".
