Some of you might not have heard but I've been working on a new protection for SC maps. Although PROEdit is a great map protector, I like to keep up with the unprotectors and so I made uBeR@TiOn which takes protection to the next level.
Download Here! (http://www.staredit.net/index.php?download=2596)
Make suggestions here! (http://lgcyfrms.superihost.com/uberate.php)
Current Version: 1.0.0.5

The map is REQUIRED to be protected by PROEdit before being uBeR@Te.

Read the readme!

There are ways to unprotect any protection and as PROEdit protection is slowly becoming known how to unprotect, I created this program to greater protect your maps.

This all started back when Clokr_ said something about not making more modifications on PROEdit. So I started to wonder how to greater protect maps. At first it was very simple, just delete this, delete that, bam better protected. I started experimenting and learning a bit about how other old versions of protection worked.

Clokr_ started his "secret project" and the release date is who knows when so for the time being, this program will be here to help you.

Clokr_, you are still cool man, I'm just helping you out ^^
I'm trying to help the entire mapmaking community.

Then I started learning VB to attempt to make a standalone trigger editor. Slowly learning how each section worked and how MpqCtl.ocx worked, I remembered this protection method and decided to make it.

Soon I thought about releasing my program. Should I actually release it? Would people yell at me? I talked to some of my testers and they all said to release it. It will help the community and nobody hates more map protection!

So I hope you enjoy this program!

Yes I know this program is very simple but I highly doubt I will be making any large addons to it.
Here is a release note about v1.0.0.5
After a couple hundred downloads, I have realized how long it would take for EVERYONE to update their version unless I made a news post for every major version I make. This will perhaps be the last of the major version news posts but there is a newer and better way to get updates!

Inspired by Suicidal Insanity's SCMDraft2, I learned that VB had internet capabilities. I soon programmed an "AutoUpdater" that would help you get the latest version in seconds! This is a huge add-on to the protection and how fast people can get their map protected with the latest! If protection were cracked just yesterday, I could update uBeR@TiOn hours and release the next protection method in days!

This is not the only major thing that I am posting about. Another large component of programs is user input and suggestions. So I was going to make a sort of website about uBeR@TiOn and why I made it and the latest version and troubleshooting. I realized there isn't much to talk about so this website would be worthless. Instead, I deleted my old forum (died way back then) and created a small page that would allow people to make suggestions and report bugs (again inspired by SI). This page is simple no doubt but will have a perhaps huge effect.

Isn't this technically advertising? Which is also technically against the rules? :concern:

But it not just a random site, it's a useful StarCraft utility that helps you to protect your maps better and decrease the chances that it'll get stolen.

no doubt they will close this thread, but then they will probably ask LegacyWeapon if they could use his program as a download for others, so you both get what you want.

I am sure that those complaining don't visit StarEdit Network too often... :)

LegacyWeapon, I have heard of your utility before, and I believe it will soon be a widely used method of adding extended protection to Starcraft maps.

Warboards has quite a strict advertising policy, but I think because of your affiliation with SEN — excellent example of a "nonprofit organization promoting the peaceful global spread of Starcraft mapping" — your thread will not be closed. It all depends on the moderators' stance towards SEN, though.

Warboards has quite a strict advertising policyI haven't exactly seen where they put their advertising policy...
I didn't see it against the rules here:
http://www.warboards.org/announcement.php?f=10&announcementid=1

So I thought it would be alright?

Besides, hes not advertising my website... I'm happy with the amount of visitors I have. Hes advertising his program, which is hosted on Staredit.net, because most websites end up mirroring and not hosting files.

I don't think it really matters. Clokr advertised his Proedit here and no one did anything.

A guy creates a program to help map makers against unprotection, spreads the word to the map making community, and YOU post about him advertising. You don't get a cookie.

Thats kinda mean, they deserve something better, like a slap on the wrists.
