View Full Version : WB + FF = messup
It's really hard to explain, but mainly - Warboards doesn't support Firefox (or should I say Firefox doesn't support Warboards?).
What happens is that when I open Warboards in Firefox it does all kinds of glitches, really annoying glitches, that I tried to deal with for two months... but it already gets on my nerves, and since the browser I use the most is Firefox and I'm sure that there are other people who also use Firefox, I'd suggest fixing the following (it ONLY happens on Firefox, Netscape doesn't do those and I don't even touch IE so feh...):
1. When you (or anybody else) quote someone, your post doesn't appear in the end of the thread, but after the post you quoted.
2. If you edit a post, and press 'submit' it opens a page with ONLY your post and nothing else, yet in the thread, as if all the other posts in the thread were deleted.
3. When looking at threads in 'New Posts' page numbers don't appear, so you have to enter the first page of the thread and only than press the '»' to get to the last page.
There are several more that I can't recall at the moment, but those are the major ones.
Again - they only happen in Firefox.

Update your firefox or your internet.
My Firefox runs fast & furiuous on Warboards ;)
Try the "Needed Updates" it shows 'em every now & then

Already updated long ago :\
The problem seems to accure only at WB, any other forums that I'm registered at works just fine.

The first one shouldn't be hard to fix. Try changing the display mode to Linear Mode. You most liekly have it set to Hybrid. The rest I cannot help with.
These all sound like singular errors on you or your specific FF version's fault.
Until these things can be reproduced by others.. there's not too much I can offer you.

Reinstall Firefox. Those things that you've listed never happened to me.

Yeah, Warboards is working fine for me, so it must be something wrong with yours.

My guess is that it's some unintentional user seting. You might be stuck in Hybrid mode, or maybe you have some weird cookie data. If you still have problems after clearing your cookies and switching to Linear mode, send me a PM. I highly doubt that there's something wrong with Firefox itself
Try changing the display mode to Linear Mode.
How?
Clear your cookies...
How?
Reinstall Firefox.
Tried that, didn't helped.

heh, thanks, but what difference will it have getting it from you than from Mozilla's site?

I already set everything in about:config back to default, and it still didn't work.

What I was about to suggest. My FF just works fine. Also beware of wich plugins you allow to your version of it. Some of the unsupported ones (read not directly related/supported by the Mozilla site) can give ya a head ache. ;)
also you should always uninstall the previous version of FF before installing an update. I ran into problem where old plugins werent functioning right and crippled my entire browser -- I almost lost all my bookmarks (which would majorly suck since i have been using them more and more recently since firefox bookmarks RUL!)

I backup my bookmarks regularly. FF 1.0.4 has been giving me trouble, yet Mozilla 1.7.8, which has the same fixes as the new FF, runs perfectly. How strange...

Alas that is happening to me as well... and since version 1.0.3. :concern:
Altough not exactly related to my Bookmarks... *Cough*some FF plugins*Cough* :P

I never used 1.0.3, went from 2 to 4. Anyway, I figured out the fix. Uninstall Firefox, then delete the program folder (under C:\Program Files) and then delete the profile directories from each user name (example: C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox). You lose your extensions and themes, but it fixes the glitches that prevent it from running. After that just reinstall your themes and extensions and voila!
Guys youve got to realize -- like I didn't -- that some extensions just arent compatible when you upgrade. It is ALWAYS a good idea to uninstall first (somehow mine was so screwed that my DOM thingy wouldnt work -- which is basically really important ^_^)
Some extensions don't work -- some of the ones I really liked, like Tab Extensions for one thing... found a replacement called 'Tab Mix' but... meh just not the same :/
-Neo
Tks Modred for that suggestion. I thought about it a while back but never really had the idea of losing the extensions I had in my FF by now. There are quite a few I use now and to go n' search for all of'em isn't exactly my idea of fun at a wkend. :P
I know that might work especially with the SpellBound extension, along with it's dictionaries, and with the Diggler one as well. Guess that will have to do it anyway... :lame:
Oh well, I'll kepp ya posted about my progress... maybe next wkend I can pull it off. :)
Neox, my TabExtensions works with (FF) version 1.0.4 at ease. Had it installed in a FF at work recently (not the one that's currently in my laptop). ;)
Yeah. So did mine, up until I decided to try and actually use it.

Meh, I know that it sometimes hassles when handling with the recent closed tabs bit, but that comes from way back. Since I updated my FF for 1.0.2 or any near it. ;)
