All I can say is i'm happy for him. Obviously he was a great man, and every life has an end. I could be a insensitive prick and say that it is about time that he had die, because he has really been hanging on by a thread for the past year or 2. But I wont. I will just say, a sad day for the Christian community.
(I am atheist by the way.)

I found out acouple mins ago. Its amazing how fast the news travels. Well the media had been preparing for it for years.
Yeah I found out last night... but as Erwinator said he's been hanging by a thread, I think that it's better that he died... for him. *Lt.Hawk removes his toque and bows his head in silent remembrance*

Truth is, the way we've been hearing about the Pope in his condition so often. It doesn't hit me so hard that he's died. But maybe thats because i'm an evangelical. At least we know he's in Heaven.

Personally, I'm not that surprised. The guy was hanging on by a thread for a long time (as stated above).
I'm not a Catholic, but that does not mean I do not offer the same condolences as I do for anyone else who dies.

I was kinda asleep when I heard my mom say something about the Pope was dead, so I thought it was a dream, but then I askend my mom about it and he actually died. Well, I'm no Catholic fanatic, but I feel sad. That's normal, when someone dies I get sad. Despite the reputation of the Catholic church, The Pope will be remembered as a proof of what faith can do, he will also stand as a symbol of forgiveness and compassion...Rest in Peace Pope.

You were asleep at 1:30 pm? Wow....
*Sigh* Poor Jean Paul... It's sad when you think that he's better off now that he's dead. He really held on for quite a while. Strong bloke, you have to admit.
I heard it over T.V, which was the most likely way to find out, anyway with their mass reports on it and the lot.
What can I say, he was pretty much one of the best Popes ever to lead the Catholic Church and he will be sorely missed

Wow, just a few minutes ago. News travels fast. Is this for real this time? I ehard earlier this morning he was dead. Of course, it's been on the news all day about how near death he was. I guess we should be glad his suffering was finnally put away, and he is now with the God he devoted his life too.
Meh. He needed to step down a while ago. It's time for a younger pope to be in office, someone willing to take a stronger stance on some issues and willing/able to travel abroad to defend them.
I have nothing against the man, but his time had come and gone to end his reign.
I'm glad we'll see some fresh blood in the office -- however his replacement will more than likely be Italian again and represent more of the traditional views.

It's funny, because about a minute or two before he died, I got into a big argument with a friend about his popemobile.

That poor man. Life's been really hard on him. He just couldn't take it anymore. May God rest his soul.

It's interesting that he held out long just long enough for Easter.

Didn't do him much good. He didn't say anything. Not that I really felt that he should have in his condition.

That's what I told everyone. That he died on Aprils Fool's day. Hey Schwitzer, if I include you in my story, what avatar do you want to represent?

All I can say is-- THIS IS BAD!!!

Why is it bad that the pope who was hanging on by a thread died? Would you rather have had the pope live 20 more years in his condition (obviously not his current condition)?
I guess they have him laying in a bed type thing so people can see him and they didn't embalm him or anything. How does that work? My sister said something like "They don't want to embalm him so the public can see that he is actually dead and so they can see him deteriorate in front of them so they can see that he is really dead." Wtf? That doesn't make much sense.

Well, people weren't exactly sure, what with the media and how they were like the boy who cried wolf.
