View Full Version : can you trigger upgrades? (weapon/armor)

havent touched sc in years, but im getting back into it; so im wondering have we found a way yet to trigger upgrades? i remember you couldnt do this before, so is it possibble now?..

also i found out my name expired.. and i couldnt rename it because it ended with 5 underscores and apparently you cant do that now. im working with just staredit now to make some lame tank defense map until i get back into mapping more.

As far as I know, no we haven't worked out a way to make upgrades with triggers, only ones that are set at the beginning of the game.

(these upgrades are for computer players btw)

so what if i make the only possible thing the computer can spend money on is upgrades. if upgrades cost 1 minerals each, and i give them 5 minerals, is there a script to make them spend all 5 on upgrades?

If you made your own AI script, yes you could make them spend all their resources on upgrades. But that wouldn't work well with a UMS map(unless it's a single player map).

Well the best way is to give the comp players the needed upgrades at the beginning and make those upgrades the maximum for all players.

There still isn't a way to do this with triggers, as much as I remember...

PS: In most UMS maps unless it's a fighting ums we don't use many if any at all AIs ;)

There was a technique to make computer players do it, but there is none for human players to trigger upgrades. Sorry.

If I'm reading the thread right, this is the answer to the thread-maker's question. If you kill certain items owned by certain players in-game, certain players will recieve upgrades.

No, its not actual weapons/armor ups for normal players.

Just for player 1, it appears.

Didn't Heimidial have a way of making teh computer auto upgrade it's units?
