View Full Version : Possible idea: Quick edit

I know it's a crazy concept, but I rather liked it at other forums. If you don't know what it is, it's like a quick reply. You click it, and it drops down a little box to where you can edit what you need. It's quick, effective, and you don't have to load a whole 'nother page to edit those two or three words. Now a full edit you could still use the regular edit for, but for those really quick replies, it saves time.

Is there any possibility of this being implimented? Just an idea, of course.

I would bound with joy if that was incorperated onto the website. I grow tired of having to click "Go Advanced" to edit just two words.

PLEASE put that feature on here!

It might be illegal to do such an edit after all vBulleting is incorporated or atleast I think so.
Let's see what hte admins will have to say about this.
Anyway I agree it would be a great advantage ;)

Illegal? What are you talking about? vBs have tons of mods for them you nut.

I doubt we need this -- does it really take that long to click on the edit button?

Besides, how many people would actually use it?

I second that notion. It's nice to be able to quickedit it. With my net as sketchy as it is, I'm possibly going to go to Dial up for a while, if that'll stop the crashes. And with Dial up, it's a BIT slower... Therefore, anything that saves me time is nice.

Eh.. I've seen this at other forums. Considered it in the past..
But I don't find 'not wanting to click one button' a valid enough response.

When you're posting a newreply, i can see the argument because it loads the entire thread below it in preview form -- and that takes time. however when you edit something, it solely loads your own post. that takes seconds, even on dialup.

Yes but it works wonders for people.. its fast and easy... it may take a few seconds but it only takes 1 with quick edit..

I really don't see the problem with our edit system now.. Sure it would be faster to just click something and have it bring down a text box where you can edit, but whats the hurry to edit your post?

I've had times where I wanted to view the other posts, which would influence what I would edit in mine. It would be easier to look back when you are just editing a few details.

Question: I know it's kind of a strange question, but do you think you could borrow the full code from another site? I mean, have the entire code transfered, and change the images and everything? Wouldn't that work, or do you have to do everything from scratch?

I think when they put in hacks like that, it's prepackaged in the sense that they don't have to figure out the code themselves, but that doesn't mean it doesn't take work to put in in.
