View Full Version : Problem in editing my new map
Hi everyone, i've just joined the community of warboards !. I create maps sometimes and i submitted Dirty World on www.starcraft.org (http://www.starcraft.org) but i can't edit it...
ERROR: Your filename contains invalid characters.
Sorry, your filename contains invalid characaters.
File: class.manage_submissions.php, Line: 248
ERROR: You've attempted to edit an invalid document.
Sorry, you've attempted to edit a document that you are not allowed to edit due to permission reasons.
File: class.manage_submissions.php, Line: 161
I don't know why this error occurs because my filename has no "invalid characters".
Thanks for further help!

you would probably have to ask one of the following persons to help you, they are all Warboards members by the way, Gibb, Mystikal, BSTRhino, Schwitzer, AJ, Dunchy.

Hmmm... sorry that must be a bug. Could you tell me exactly what you entered into the edit fields to cause that error so we can try to fix it?
Filename: (4)Dirty World
Map size: 128x128
#players: 4
Description: Same thing
Map File: C:\Games\Starcraft\maps\BroodWar\(4)Dirty World.scx
then i clicked on submit map! and it says an error and then i clicked on the little "edit" button and another error appears.
I can't edit any of my 4 maps :( maybe i'm not doing it right..if so tell me how because I'm new to the community. :D

Maybe the system is regecting one form of the editors... which editor did you use?
I use the one coming with starcraft
I guess none can help me.

Trcc, try it again when not so many connections are up onto SC.org. It could be merely a lag connection approval of your map by the site's database. *Wild guess, sorta* Especially since it isn't fully running so far, since that dreaded worm attack it occurred a while ago. :concern:
Welcome to WB's, btw. I hope you'll like the site as many of us do. Take a tour around and see if you can find a search for your question. I know it answered a couple of mine. :)
As a friendly advice as well, there are other map editors to SC than the original one (aka StarEdit). *Hint, hint* ;)
Could someone tell me the exact procedure to edit a map ? Maybe I'm not doing it the correct way :S

Open an explorer window (assuming you possess an Windows OS), search for the map file location inside the PC's HD and then simply double click on it to open the map back with the original map editor (aka StarEdit) to whom those files (read *.scm and *.scx) are linked to.
It's that simple, I hope it helped. ;)

I have had similar problems uploading maps on .ORG
The error says something like, "you did not attach a valid file"...

Sorry guys, looks like we're too late. Trcc would have wanted to have an answer a month ago, but since there was no answer he hasn't returned since then to read your replies. In that case it's better to leave the responses to another newer thread.
