*I like this author
*I like this book
*It's required for school

Nice choice, although I found that book a little unlike most of Stephen Kings writing, although it had the same terror/fear theme.

Am currently starting a series by Frank Herbert and Bill Ransom. Quite an old collection of books.
Currently reading The Jesus Incident.
The previous book by Frank Herbert(Destination:Void) that builds up the background for this one was a lengthy discussion on the definition of consciousness and sentient life and involves a handful of crew ( the rest were in hibernation) of a spacecraft trying to build a mechanical consciousness to guide their ship to a planet in a far away system

I just read Epic ... don't remember who it was by, but it's an excellant book, compares various tales such as LOTR, Chronicles of Narnia, and several movies to The Bible and God's Plan, very simple, and at only 103 pages or so, you could read it in one or two sittings.

C.S. Lewis -- The Great Divorce
A good friend of mine just finished reading it and insisted that I should read it also, and so far its proven to be an excellent read.
has anyone else here read philip pullman? its a very nice book. anyway...yeah, I liked the first one more than the others personally. although they are all rather good
And If it is required that we discuss our favorite, then I reccomend "Wizards First Rule" by terry goodkind.
A damn good book with a rather good plot and disembowellings all over the place.
Oh, and wizards.
In fact, the whole "Sword of Truth" series is damned good. but I wont spoil it.
But it is to reading what Gamma Ray are to music :D

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, authored by an unknown medieval bard, translated to modern English by Tolkien; A Hymn Before Battle, by John Ringo. My favorite lines from that one are:
