Opinions about fast expo

For a normal 1:1 game, would a fast expo be considered safe/benefitial/necessary?

It depends on race match up, distances between bases, and location of your natural expansion.

On nostalgia, PvT I like 12 nexus in expo. Perfectly safe. On LT it isn't safe because there are too many harassing options.

On LT, PvT, I like goon, then range, then 28 expo in another main, forgoing a robo. Especially 3 v 9 or 12v6, and I almost always do this build 12v3, unless I'm cocky and robo before goon.

ZvP or ZvT, 12 pool, 12 hatch in expo is always safe.

A fast expo is never "necessary" but it's often very desirable in ZvT or PvT.

Oh, and I don't have an "opinion" about fast expo, but those are the facts.
