Poll added.

To tell you the truth, the only one I liked was the original Matrix. The other ones were 'alright', but definitely not amazing and definitely not as cool as the original was when it was released :).

The original was great, but I liked the second two. They were good, but not great. I was tired when watching Reloaded, and when the Architect got involved, it took me a while to follow. :)

EDIT: Stupid me, I voted for Reloaded. I guess thats my subconscious kicking in, or something like that.

Well... i'm not sure really... they all had their ups and downs... the first one - well its the original, duh :P i'd say reloaded i guess, lots of action. but really, im not sure.

I vote the original. The other two were good, but not that great.

EDIT: Although, now that I think of it, the highway seen in the second one was really good...

I agree with Radlin, the first one is definitely the best. The scond one was okay, and the third one just sucked. Each sequel got increasingly and unnecessarily heavy on the action, and what ohilosphy and deepness they tried to put into the movie just didn't make any sense, was too contrived and sucked in general.

I think the first was superior, as it was much more "mysterious"; it kept you in the dark and on the edge of your seat. The other two, while still good, lost that mysterious aspect as we knew more or less what was going on.

Overall, the original was and still is the best, but Reloaded had some amazing fight sequences.

The last movie: Dedicated to the Waichoski (SP?) Brothers' credibility... Got to love it...

The first one was the best. The second two had some nice action yes, but not only did they make no sense whatsoever, but somehow Neo magically forgot ALL his Kung-fu he learned in the first movie.
Seriously, if he had remembered half that training, he would have been able to take a whole city full of smiths with his "I am THE ONE!" routine. When the end climax of Matrix 3 turned into a dragon ball Z fight, I leaned over the damn stairrail and hurled.

It must have taken me about 15 to 30 minutes for the shock to wear off of the absolutly craptactular ending they gave it, and realize that this was the real ending and not my mind playing tricks on me. The only thing preventing me from losing the rest of my lunch, was my unbearibly strong urge to cry my eye-sockets loose in mourning or such a great movie trillogy ended so horribly.

The second one was pretty nice, excellent action, an excellent movie, and they COULD have made that even better than the first one, but then they added in "the architect" and everything he touched he turned to crap. Literal CRAP. His mere presence threw in an illegitimate net of confusion on what was going on, and after that i could'nt see the movie screen because there was nothing but total crap.

The third one was so terrible that if I were a Matrix hardcore fan 'del ultimate', I would have commited hari-kari before the credits even came up.

I would have commited hari-kari before the credits even came up.
If by hari-kari, you mean suicide, then the word you're looking for is suppeku. I don't think hari-kari is a phrase, but then again, I don't speak Japanese. And I prefered the 2nd one the best, the 1st one made me seasick and I never saw the 3rd one.

When I first saw Revolutions, me and my buddy were actuallly making jokes about DBZ. Yeah, it got a little too far fatched when they started flying around, and going through walls.

On its own, the original was the best, but for me it's really hard to consider them three seperate movies and compare them that way. Something would have been missing if they didn't make Reloaded and Revolutions. It's really just one long story broken up.

The first matrix messed with my head as a child... I soon found out that it is not actually possible to jump of a building and expect the road below to turn to rubber and cution my fall..

Anyways the first matrix set up the story and had alot more cool effects for the time... still does... meh..

pancakes!

The first one of course.

The first one. The other two sucked more than almost any other movie imaginable.

The first one, by quite a stretch.

The other two just tried too hard, Revolutions especially. They tried to make every single line every single actor said profound and philisophical, but all they managed to do was make the plot completely impossible to follow.

I liked the Matrix more (due to originality reasons... :P). Followed closely by the Reloaded (1st sequel).
In the 3rd (Revolutions), they went too far stretching the Smith's copy-duplicate thingy to be the main plot. *Meh*

Being Neox such a Matrix fan, expect to hear from him soon... ;)

The first movie for sure. Why? The first movie was totally original. As for the other two, well.....I think I am going to have to agree with TheGreatBrain here. The forceful inclusion of this "profundity" into every constituent phrase of every constituent actor in the latter two movies actually proved to be excruciatingly superficial in the given context, not to mention how the plot was nearly impossible to follow on the first watch. All over all, the first movie was a change from the usual and the martial arts action was quite unique, whereas the other two movies were not that great.

Number 1 I'd say, it had a plot.

I think that The Matrix was the best of the three it had a tremendous philosophical content and it changed the rules for action movies. I think that the others were just an attempt to obtain a helluvalot.

Oh yes, and don't forget some of the Animatrix, some of them were awesome.

The first one rocked. I don't remember much in the second one, and ending on the last one blew. I don't remember half the stuff that happened in those two last movies. Perhaps I should watch them again sometime.

But the whole truce thing with the machines and humans was retarded. I would've rather seen the human race annihilated. Could've made the movie a lot better by removing a cheesy ending.

The first was better, solely because it set a standard, which the sequels failed to live up to. I disliked many of the action scenes in both Reloaded and Revolutions, particularly in Reloaded when Neo fights the many Smiths. The CG animation was horrid and looked like a crummy video game. I expected better.

Anyway, I liked the third movie due to wrapping up the plot, although TGB makes a very good point about it trying too much to be profound. (I hear Ghost in the Shell 2 did the same thing...must watch it...a shame if it did.)

The plot was also more engaging in the first, with that mysterious chic that helps make a good action film. Perhaps if the other films had waited a few more years and a little more (or perhaps less) thought had been put into them, they could have met or surpassed the standard set by the first film.

The Animatrix films were a mixture of good and, not bad per se, but not as good as the others. Plus I feel asleep before I finished watching, so I haven't seen a few of them, but of the ones I saw I liked the one about the track star, although I can't remember what the title was. The two Renaissance shorts were alright, although they jumped around a bit quickly and the second one was somewhat corny with the whole thing about the machines wanting nothing but peace and evil humans drove them to destroy humanity. It does at least show how the sky became clouded, but it's not like I really cared.

I'd have to say the first was my favorite. It started them all and got me into the whole matrix thing.. but the fight scenes in the others were leet. :D

I liked the first movie better. The 2nd one was a bit dissapointing. The first time I saw matrix, I thought it was so cool! And I still tink it is...;)

EDIT;Is revoultion out?

I see Revolutions still only has my vote.. (Note this vote was because it was the only one with no votes... ;P)

EDIT;Is revoultion out?
Yes, it's been out for a couple of months. They've even compiled an "Ultimate Matrix Experience" that has Matrix, Revisited, Reloaded, Reloaded Revisited, Revolutions, a documentary about the influences behind the Matrix, etc. Perhaps there's a Revolutions Revisited in it as well...I can't remember. And the Animatrix might be thrown in with it.

The first movie is the best Matrix movie.
