View Full Version : Warboards and recent spam/weirdness...

Has anyone noticed the sudden increase in spam?

Things like MP vs. Deezed, the AJ fan club, SLA vs. Zeltaris...

What happened to the old days (like...a year ago. >_>) when people's posts had more meaning and you could have intelligent conversations, even in the Member's Lounge? Now people post topics that have little thought put into them and are just plain stupid. I mean, sure, it's okay once in a while, but it seems to be more ocnstant now...:/

Meh.

Deezed is, well, wierd. MarkPyro is just as weird. Sikawtic is also wierd, I'm the Spam Queen and Zeltaris is wierd, but Mexican. The main spammers are the wierd ones, or the drunk ones*cough*singo and dunchy*cough*and we tend to stick to the Game Room. or to our own threads. hmmm... this one of my only meaningful posts.

My posts have meaning most of the time... but now is war.

And besides, I'm kinda t.o'd that they closed my club... the votes went in favor of keeping it open. and yet its closed... I"m thinking schwitzer got jealous.

Now now, you're taking this a a bit too seriously
MP vs Deezed happened because Deezed took a comic personally.
The SLA vs Zeltaris and all that jazz happened because kongurous settled down into the Game Room and turned into a massive spamfest. I tried to do something and look what I got :P

The AJ fanclub is just the occasional bit of humour you get in the member's lounge, like dunchy/duddit's drunken posts or the ToD thread.

It's not that we're going bonkers on spam, just that, the more members we get, the more random stuff pops up. Still, I fear that the Member's Lounge might end up turning into chit chat.

I agree with you about the increase in spam, but you have to remember this... At least they aren't killing any Kittens ;).

Yes. It has become just a spamfest.

It's so sad that what probably started as a grade board disintigrated to a spam room as soon as I started to post. But hey, at least there's still other areas of the board, well, at least I hope so, I haven't looked at them yet.

I'm so sad, sniff.

What's worse, I miss all my friends, and most of them are going away for good. My life just isn't going the way it should right now. I wish school would start up again. And it's only been stopped for... one day. Well, I guess that just goes to show, doesn't it?

What does killing kittens have to do with anything, besides being mean to the poor innocent little kitties?

Whoa whoa whoa, let's not make this seem like the end of the world. The forums have not disintegrated :P. Unf, I'm surprised there's already a thread about the issue of spam and recurring topics popping up. I can assure you it's all in your head .

Every once and a while people go through the forums and see a bunch of new faces and a chunk of new threads that seem 'spammy'. When it comes down to it, it's usually just that the forums look foreign because there has been so much development in the past while. These 'fun' threads are really quite harmless, and the appearance of a few of them really isn't rubbing me the wrong way.

If things get out of hand, I can assure you that I'm always around and I'm going to personally ensure everyone can have a good time on the forums. However, don't get me wrong. I'm not dismissing the issue. I will take your point into consideration and keep a keener eye on such threads ^_^.

Hey, on that note . . . I've heard rumours of an upcoming IRC competition//party :O! Discuss . . . :)

kongurous settled down into the Game Room and turned into a massive spamfest. I tried to do something and look what I got :P and? the Game Room was probably MADE for spamming, because I know AJ, or Edgewize, or whoever made that forum knew that spam would invade it. Quickly. I just decided it was a free post-count increasing method, so I indulged it. Of course, I turned it into a novelty aspect, by making the SLA and whatnot. I am capable of serious posts, though they are few and far between, though thanks to the novelty of my title of Spam Queen, the show must go on, but really, Zeltaris, if you wanna argue and negotiate, let's do it though private messaging?(yes, that is a valid punctuation mark, its just kinda hard to understand the context when you read it and its context isn't descriptive. w00t) and Radlin, you and Schwitzy are my favorite mods, if only because you guys both have a good sense of humour.

down children. i closed my own fanclub thread because i dislike you all bickering for reasons that really do not deserve conflict.

more so the more time you spend online and in forums, you'll find that every forum is similar to life in that it works in cycles. each month, week, even day has its own crests and troughs. it is through that series of rises and falls in action that stimulate and create the conversations you carry on in.

clearly, I'd like to see WB be more active at times, but I think at current levels you'll note a significantly high proportion of educated, well-worded responses as opposed to those of .. lesser taste.

I'd like to see all of this SLA, etc die down.. but I'm sure it will. Simply for the same reason that the fascination with triumvirates died and just as a hundred other fads have.

So.. stop worrying. Stop complaining. Stop.. bickering. Have fun together, that's why I run WarBoards.. I want the ORG sites, and the community here to be able to come together and recognize the value of each other and how much you enjoy each other's company. What's life with a little WBL reading? Or the random drunken post by Dunchy? Or a hint to your favorite little rubik from BB?

Have fun! Relax! I promise that even though I change things around a lot, and that we always are going to have quarrels and differences of opinion, that I will always listen to what you all have to say, take it in the best interests of the forum that i can, and decide on what I think is best for all.

End of Line.

That was a heart-warming post, AJ. I feel like hugging my fellow Warboardian.

It's only a forum, and I don't mind any of the crazy things going on recently. It's pretty good to see some new members and some weird stuff once in a while.

Spam can be bad or good. It matters how you put it. Most spam is spam and that means that most of that spam must be more spam which could be bad because spam will eventually kill us all!

As mentioned, I didn't need to touch the thread; AJ closed it himself (which I find delightfully ironic).

Also... the votes went in favour of keeping it open? I had a look at the Moderator Log and it appears a certain administrator also edited the poll. Mmm, I guess the "we wuv AJ" comment was too hard for a certain someone to let lose. ;)

there we go, spam doesnt kill kittens

ergo there is no problem

it will die down of its own accord, and no one ever expected serious posts in the game room anyway did they? (excluding the rpg parts)

Forums that don't count posts just promote spamming. Most of the threads in the game room still have a purpose. and should have one.

heh, glad you picked that up Tim. One of my favorite movies. =]

The same thing goes for when you make a deal about spamming. When sadistic people realize that something erks you, they will always try to do it. Thus the War on Spam, like the War on Drugs only backfires. So let them post, let them have their fun. Leave them alone and the shall do the same for you (or you could just ask your friendly neighborhood admin or Mod to help as well)!

I don't know about spam... Meh... All I know is that we have a lot of weird threads going down here... The versus thread thing is kind of the new trend. That, and I think alliance kind of things are here again. The "Spammer liberation army" or whatever is part of it, I guess... Who knows...

All I know is that I rarely post anything spammy anymore, other than the occasional day that I just let loose and post where I want. Rarely, if ever, does that happen. Maybe once a month, if that.

Mostly, I'm just around the RP forum, keeping it in order, making sure it's all cool. Meh. Whatever. I just hope the good posts come back.
