Suggestions please: my pathetic 1v1

This was me playing against Grom_Icrecream. We both randomed and it was one of my weaker match-ups; ZvP.

Even though I won, I feel I played like shit. I've definately played a lot better. Suggestions, please.

P.S. I know, my scouting sucked majorly... I could've won a lot more comfortably if I'd checked resource nodes more regularly.

Well, ill post these things u did wrong by the time i see them, so even now while typing, the rep is on hold.

1. 9 pool doesnt often give victory, and makes economy quite bad. Rather make 12 drones, and then spawning pool. If your opponent is rushing, it will still easily be eliminated by 6 lings and you have much better eco. And in maps like challenger you can run through the zealots anyway. depending on map size, he will have about 2 zealots when your lings are at his base.

2. You dont need so much sunken colonies. They cost like **** and are usually not worth it. Rather make 1 sunken colony near your drones, so it helps against attacks, protects drones from harass, and if your opponent comes with a force you didnt think to happen in base, the drones can always block them getting to the sunken colony.
I advice to make much more lings with the money and not sunkens. Though, if your opponent is attacking, (which you can detect by overlords or lings near his gate, and see when he runs trough) you can make more sunkens. The amount? Depends on opponents army size. :)
Also, if you did 12 pool, you should be able to get enough money for second hatchery soon enough, and it wont cost too much of the time on getting lair.

3. Dont waste your mutas, those can be used more effective ways. Like scouting islands, exps, destroying lone probes around the map etc.
You should just take back 3 mutas rather than leave them for few probes if there are like 2-4 dragoons, or more.

4. Dont waste your units too much. If you see yor opponent has much greater force, then usually u should'nt go and just throw them to death.

5. More drones to every place. More drones to expansions, atleast like 3-4 more than there are mineral patches. (8 mineral patches, = 11-12 drones + 3 to gas if there is one)and more to other places. You get much more and faster units, and if you make them just a bit at a time, everything will go well. I mean by this bit at a time, that after the start, like 2 -3 mins.

6. I saw now that you drones were treathened by dragoon drop.
read answer number 2 on how to prevent this. In some cases, if they just attack the sunk and there are more or same amount like in that point, you can just take the drones and attack them. This is one way to minimize losses, without taking whole army from other side of the map. Though, if he / she attacks your drones, just take them back.

7. I see you attacked with lurkers and lings. you did it quite fine, except next time if there are no cannons, just take 2-3 lurks from your army and take them to the probes, and attack ONLY them. This is a excellent way ro spoil your enemys economy.

8. start upgrades earlier. at first if you dont have too much spare gas/minerals, just start with one evolution chamber, but if you get more of them, make a second one.

These were the main facts to correct on... Here, this is my rep that i just today played. Shows quite well on how to zvp, though i did not play it so good, then again, not so bad either. Anyway....

Though, that map we played on had very long way to each others bases, so thats why i played a bit differently than usual. Though, the game style doesnt go too much away from the road. Anyway, if you need more help, just feel free to ask!

You need to start by understanding the matchup. In the early game, if P goes zeal he's trying to kill ling to set back your economy. Every 2 ling you make is 1 less drone harvesting, so you should make a sunken or 2 or 3 in your choke. It depends on how much pressure you face. I'll attach 2 replays that will point out the difference. In the first game, I teched, so Hayley didn't make hardly any ling or sunkens. In the 2nd game, she stole my gas, so I went 3 gate zeal, and she had to make like 5 sunkens.

Oh gawd. I just watched the replay myself and realise how poorly I played. I knew I didn't do great, but that's way below my usual standard. :(

Yeah, this game was an absolute shocker. I'm sure Sambo will vouch for me when I say that I can play much, much better than that now. :)

Wow, Schwitzer. Based on this replay and adding some skill, I'd say you would be a fair enough match for me. Catch ya on B.Net sometime (U.S.East LotN-Lorien).

Anywho, Sambo pretty much got all the points, but I think you should put your sunkens behind the pool so that they can cover the minerals (goon drop problem solved). You also never really expanded seriously. One expo in 1v1 usually can't support that large of an army. But then, you don't need that large of an army, either. Yeah, I know I'm rambling. Darn it Sambo, you always get all the good points :(

hehe.. yea we fixed schwitzer up completely after this game.. he's 5x as good, and we found that his best race is toss. Although, i don't know if he would want me to have said that since I think he still likes to try to play random. -_-

Yeah I know about that. My friend insists on playing Protoss, yet he's so much better as Terran it's not even funny. Of course, he only was playing Terran because he misclicked and landed on Terran, and I ignored him (it was 2v2 with him on the other team) out of pity. Boy was I sorry when his tank push came rolling down my door.

I like to try to learn all three races, but I always pick Toss for serious matchups.
