Reavers are easily underestimated because you need to build Scarab every time and they are slow in movement and in fire rate. How ever, with range 8, fire rate 60, and attack 100 plus splash, that's like attacking at marine's fire rate with attack 25 + Splash! not to mention the range.
They are especially good at taking out hydralisks and Zerglings, marines, firebats, and so on. The only problem is air units and siege tanks, but if you have Dragoon/Scout back up, cancel the air units out of threat list. Siege Tank pose a bit of problem because they have more range and 3 of them can take out the slow-moving reavers. You might need to use a drop on the tanks.
Here are some Strategy with Reavers:
Reaver Drop on the enemy mineral field. This works especially good in the Fastest Stage because all the workers are stacked in one place and you cant rebuild your nexus right next to the mineral field.
Attacking Protoss/Zerg Defense. The Sunken and the Cannon can't reach the Reavers, so your reaver will destroy them from a safe range. Use Shuttle for Reavers movement when getting your reavers out of your base to the enemy's base. They are way too slow. Make sure you got Dragoons for back-up. They are excellent for taking out large units, which on the other hand, reavers can take out small ones with one hit. With this, you shouldn't have trouble killing your opponent. Make sure u upgrade Dragoon's range for this.
This is underhanded, but if the enemy can't attack air, use your shuttle to Drop the Reaver, let your reaver attack, then pick it back up. After a while, drop it back down, let it atack, then pick it up. LOL(I don't guarantee it works, you might as well just air units.)
