OK so I downloaded some stuff from torrents, and i got these files, I put the filesize just so you can get the gist of the two types, my guess is that the big one is all the files and the little one is the "key" to open it or whatever. Anyways, what do I do to get my files out of these? These are two different downloads.

1:
.mdf 532MB
.mds 19kb

2:
.bin 767 MB
.cue 74 bytes

Think I can help with the 2nd one.

*.bin is somewhat related to an OS file, if remembering it correct. SC (read StarCraft) uses it too, inside it's files (seen with modding tools). But I don't really remind it's specific use (perhaps CD image related).

*.cue this one is used to be an image CD file. I know it was used within Clone CD, from the time I had to make a few copies using it. But that app seems to have been left aside and their developers moved into Clone DVD. I know that Nero Express and Nero Burning Rom (http://www.nero.com/en/Downloads.html) can process it, though. I don't use the latest version if that program (Nero (http://www.nero.com/en/)), btw.
You'll prob'ly have to burn it into a CD to find out what piece of intel it brings. May I suggest you should use a CD-RW in this endeavour? (That's just for the case it ends up screwing a CD without any real usefulness. That way you can always reuse the thing.) ;)

Btw, is it necessary to remind you runnin' an Anti-Virus check upon those dl'ed (and all similar) files?
Good luck with the rest. :smirk:

If I recall, .mdf files were from Alcohol 120%, but I may be wrong.

I believe both actually (bin and mdf) should be cd-images. Try mounting the images on nero or alcohol 120% (virtual drives) and see if she works :).

.bin is a binary file, which is a bit for bit image of the CD. The associated .cue file is information on how to interpret it correctly. The .mdf and .mds files are probably similar, but are also probably compressed.

MDS is from Alcohol 120% and BIN is just another CD Image format. Daemon Tools can mount both just fine.

Daemon Tools can mount both just fine.

I've never really understood howcome n' how it would compile the files into CD images or even CD's... Any of you care to share that piece of intel? Mainly, how to work with that prog?
Does it have to do with some CD security features (to prevent copies, for instance), such as SecureRom?
