View Full Version : Does Bnet Hate Newbs? or is it just that people hate newbs?

I was recently playing a game on Bnet (I was Human), when I got rushed by all 3 of my enemies, I asked my allies for help, and all they said was "no" "Shut up and die you god damn newb":(, you see what I mean. I think its unfair that newbs shouldbe treated like this, they are real people, in a real place and do have feelings (you listnin noodlze? ;) ), some people just don't think that newbs count as people.
Deezed, you have to understand that at least 90% of the people in the bnet don't have any feelings.
People come to bnet to have fun, some are having fun by a good ol' melee, some play ums, some can somehow enjoy playing a money map, some have fun of back stabbing and some come to bnet just to bash newbs - because that's the way they have fun.
and unfortanutly, there is nothing anyone can do about it.
yes, teoratically blizzard can ban all not nice people, but we know that that won't happen.
imo, the best thing to do is to ignore those people, and if they keep pickin' on you try hurting them back with some clever saying such as: "both of your parents are gays, but that doesn't means you're batter than newbs on bnet, that just means you're gayyer".

If those cruel newb-bombers can get the newb to become angry or sad, then they have power over you.
As Adolf Hitler said, terror in the people gives power over the people.
If you want people to stop treaing you like a "n00b", then wait till you're not a newb. Then select your path; do you want to inflict suffering upon the newbs? Or do you want to be nice to them?
Remember, you must be the change you want to see in the world.
P.S. Some statements that work are: OMG <insert noob's color here> is a noob!, Can't you build right <expletive deleted> noob?!!?!?!
P.P.S If it comes down to maternal insults, call them a test-tube baby.

The way I think of it, noob-bashing is part of the game in your case, just like building an army or creeping (in WC3). Don't just stand there, do something about it. Like so.
Fatass: "Die u f***ing noob"
You:: I may be a noob, but at least the 3rd floor of my house isn't my mom's 'office'.
That one pisses off many people. If you'd like some more burns to fight back with, give me a PM. I'd gladly help out.
EDIT: PLEASE only use jokes like these if it comes down to the fact that they are really in your grill and doing something like killing your Town Hall with a Peon army, or doing things just to piss you off.

Personally, I don't like to participate in insulting people on bnet, unless I have been insulted and am defending myself. Going off badmouthing other people is just a sign of low self-esteem. However, I have some experience on taking insults. The best way to comeback against people like that is to point out serious flaws in their gameplay. Don't just go off saying stuff like "Your mom is gay" because it means ABSOLUTELY nothing. It is much better to say stuff like "Huntresses against tauren? Great unit choice there..." or my favorite "Keeping your hero alive usually helps." Just make sure that the comeback has power, and make sure that the comeback couldn't be used against you with a fair meaning behind it as well.
Last year in school, my Biology teacher put this up in her classroom "Nobody can make your feel inferior without your consent." What that means is that if that insult hurts you at all, then you are partialliy believing what they are saying. Basically, if you know you are trying, then there is no reason to feel bad about it. If you really are new to the game, then being called a newb is nothing to be offended by. Another thing to remember is that everybody has been a newbie before; nobody is just born good.
As for your game, your got unlucky. It isn't very often that your allies will abandon you because you are a newbie, because they don't stand a very good chance in a game with unbalanced teams.

I used to be made fun of when I was younger, and I never responded before. But once again, if you respond with an insult back, be very sure it is a serious matter and you need to defend yourself.

Actually, don't feel too bad because your allies left you for dead; sometimes it is actually better for the team if they delay by sacrificing one player's base.
I remember one time I was playing 4v4, the enemy had 1 base left, but that last guy had 14 chimeras. We sacrificed three of our bases to delay him, and the last guy on our team just massed Gargoyles. Guess what? We won.
It just happened to be your base this time.
