Which ability must be choosen first for any Far Seer ?

Chain Lightning : Dangerous spell , as you all know. This spell can deal heavy damage to Level 1-4 Creeps and extremely effective against groups. But at Level 1 of experience, you may be able to cast it only 3 times !

Feral Spirit : Summons wolves, Requires less mana that may be casted 4-5 times at level 1... This also is excellent scouting spell and you may dare to move your Far Seer alone in very early stage of the game and gain fine experience and items...when others have just started or finished their buildings...!

Far Sight : Allows you to plan your strats according to your opponent ! Just peep in his base, and see what he is doing !

So , What is your choice ?

Far Seer is one of my favorite heros having played Orc as my primary race in Warcraft 3. I haven't played WC3 for a while actually, but I'll tell you what I used to do...

On small maps I will usually get wolves because they are great for scouting at that distance and also for putting some early pressure (if only minor) on my opponent.

On larger maps when myself or my teammates want to rush right away I will sometimes start off with far sight just to find out the best spot to rush at.

On larger maps when we are going to creep, I usually get chain lightning first because that seems to take out creeps the best.

So, it depends on the situation :)

For me, it was between wolves and lightning.

Wolves can add 2 more units to your "army." In the beginning of the game, 2 units can mean victory.

Chain Lightning is excellent for taking out creeps. However, it is not that good in the early game.

I always get the Far Seer as my first hero (if at all). Thus, I believe that Feral Spirit is better.

The Far Seer has a variety of excellent abilities, however, I think that wolves is the only one necessary at the beginning of the game, especially in a 1v1. The two wolves are excellent for harassing, as well as creeping to soak up blows, and to protect yourself from a harasser as well. However, I think that after lvl 1, you ought to stick with lightning/far sight or wolves/far sight, since far sight is such a useful ability later on.

Feral Spirit, hands down. Absolutely necessary for a FS to be any good.

Wolves are very important during the beggining of the game, but i think that far sight is the most important. By using far sight, you can see where the enemy's at, and also, most importantly, find out what strategy you should be using. For example, if the enemy is going air, you u'll have to counter-air. Maybe head-hunters and bats and a few towers. Its also equally important to know where the enemy is at. I like to take on enemies after they fighting strong creeps (pisses people off alot). Also, if you use FS at level 3, you can see almost the whole map.
I would for the first skill: Wolves
2nd: chain
3rd: FS
4th: FS or wolves
5th FS

O, i voted but didnt post. My bad.

I voted Feral Spirit, as they are great early-game. They serve as meat if your self-creeping, add two units to your army (which is needed in the early-game), and can be replaced easy if needed (just cast again). That's all I need to say, as everything else has already been said (u snooze, u lose i guess:)).

The skill distribution depends on the situation. I rarely use Far Sight at all, even in Team Games or FFA's, because chain lightning and wolves are such overpowering spells used in combination. It really comes down to what I need though between the two spells. You can count on one of two scenarios. In heavier melee situations, you need the lvl 2 wolves for meat. Add a couple of headhunters and about 4-5 grunts for that. The second scenario comes from mostly NE and HU games where you need primarily ranged units and abilities to combat the archers and riflemen. In those scenarios, use lvl 2 chain lightning. In either case, you'll begin with wolves and have to make the choice with your third skill point. If on a big map where you're almost entirely relying on Farsight, select it either your 2nd or your third skill point. All in all though, it's not very useful if you use your other scouting methods.

I do agree that chain lighting is a great spell to have in your far seer's arsenal, but I still think that most of the time, wolves aren't necessary past lvl 1. Far sight would be much more effective, since it reveals much, and it is instantaneous. Orcs are known for their raw melee power as well as hefty meat shields. If you are trying to be a ranged person, than the orcs probably aren't the best race for you, since all the other 3 races are so much more effective with their ranged units. Instead, I think that it would be wise to invest in far sight, since it is the best scouting ability in the game IMO.
