I bought Starcraft relatively recently, installing on a reasonably fast computer (Windows XP, 1.8 GHz, 384MB DDR RAM, 64 MB video RAM, plenty of hardrive space). The game works fine except that something's wrong with the sound, both in the game and especially in the movies. Specifically, it keeps skipping on and off, kind of like this: "fffp....fffp....fffp....fffp...." with about 0.75 seconds between each "fffp." I don't know how else to describe it.

This didn't happen when I first installed it on a much older and slower computer. Any suggestions?

Try reinstalling your sound card drivers and the game. Or maybe make sure your sound card is completely pushed into the slot on your motherboard. Those are just some of the things you could try. Once Exedore see's this he will probably give you a few suggestions if not identify the problem and give you the solution. =]

I can't really say much about it, unfortunately. Are you running anything in the background that may be using your soundcard? Have you experienced this with any other software?

How about reinstalling DirectX?

I've got it working now. Re-installing the sound drivers did it. Many thanks to everyone.
