you can only have 1600 units on a map, including doodads ect ect.

You can only have 1650 units on any map. Doodads don't count as units,
therefore you can have as many of them as you want. Max out a map in
an editor and you can still add doodads.
I read in a previous thread that an editor will have a 1650 limit but the
actual game has 1700. An easy way to see if this is true is to max out a
map in an editor, and then play the game, and see of you can indeed make
50 more units. Nevertheless, this limit is hard set into the programming
and cannot be overcome....yet.

That happens 'cause the SC game engine won't handle any more units. It's an old game afterall... :smirk:
And it gets worse if you play money maps. There, the max units limit easily gets through the roof!

Yeah when you play a money map it gets horrible.
Like a slow motion movie.I hope they do somethin' to fix this problem in SC2...

Even if you do max out a map with doodads and try to fill up your populations limit the real problems are... Resorce stacks that are 50 and 60 sprites high in all 8 corners of the map, and walls of pylons, supply depots, or hundreds of overlords.
