If you're set on using IE, there's no way to persuade you to do otherwise. However, since you don't seem to be, I'll continue.

Ways Firefox is a viable alternative to IE:

Security. Although an excuse for Firefox's lack of exploits is that no one uses it, why not be exploit-less and use it?
Search. Without installing any plugins that might contain adware (i.e. 90% of IE toolbars), you can search from a little box on the top right of the screen. You can search in a multitude of search engines as well.
Pop-up blocker. Again, most of the toolbars one can install for IE contain adware. The newest version of IE has built-in popup blocking though.
Tabbed browsing. You have no idea how much better this makes one's browsing experience. Instead of cluttering the taskbar with a bunch of windows, you can have all your pages in tabs in the same window.
News feeds. Yess Firefox has built-in RSS syndication.
Extensions. Omg some of the extensions are awesome. Omg omg omg.

Ways IE sucks:

Its CSS parsing engine is very very buggy. Sometimes one has to add nonexistent tags (those not specified by W3C) to make something look nice. Also sometimes a randomly placed <br /> solves problems. Like what the freak.

i haven't had any and i have had my comp for 2mths

covered in my google toolbar

again covered but had 2 edit in the ones i have

now this i can see as useful

News feeds. Yess Firefox has built-in RSS syndication

Extensions. Omg some of the extensions are awesome. Omg omg omg.again not really sure

The point is that you don't need to worry about adware and spyware with firefox like you do with IE. You don't have to have those other applications and you don't need to worry about whether your google toolbar has adware or not. Maybe you like having a bunch of programs around on your computer but for my money (well, not really seeing as firefox is free) Firefox is better.

Well, Firefox is based on the Netscape engine.

However, Netscape (as far as I know) is not open-source and thus does not have as many useful extensions. For example, I can't live without QuickNote now.

(I've actually never used Netscape so what I typed above could be a bunch of baloney.)

Although Mozilla, and later Firefox came from Netscape's code, so in a sense Netscape is open source.

Technically the new mozillas/FF are under a specific OS-Like thing, but new netscapes will be based off this code and re-released with some special thing(s) or whatever. Basically it was netscape --> mozilla, now its mozilla --> netscape. Lol :)

Some extensions I would suggest:

Adblock http://adblock.mozdev.org/ (Adblock is just effing awesome. It allows you to block images, flashes, scripts, everything. This is really helpful becuase popupers are trying new and new ways to pop stuff up and FF doesn't always catch them -- whats really annoying is when Javascripts goto resize the window. Adblock can help block this kind of crud.)
Tabbrowser Extensions http://piro.sakura.ne.jp/xul/_tabextensions.html.en (This allows you to rearrange tabs/duplicate tabs/set permissions for each tabs, etc... Mostly it allows you a ton of control over tabs, but if you find the default setup is fine, don't worry about it)

There are some others like chatzilla, and such, that you might find useful, I use Foxytunes to control winamp from the browser (it can control damn near any media player) and some other things, but just browse around and find some you like:

https://update.mozilla.org/extensions/?application=firefox

There are TONS of things.

Neox, I went extensions galore the other day. Now the FoxyTunes doesn't uninstall properly (did it the 1st time when was offline). Altough it says it will do so the next time I'll use FF, when I do so it still hangs there but you can't uninstall it. The reinstall trick to repeat the removal procedure doesn't work either. How can I get rid of it definetly?
Btw, I use Nero Mix as my media player.

Spellbound, translators and dictionary checks are also some awesome FF extensions. :)

Another fun thing you can do with Firefox is increase your connection speed easily. (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=6920) FF also has HTTP pipelining for even more fun.

Fixed FF now. The freakin' hard way... :mad2:

Another extensions galore day. But some of the one's I had, now don't show in the FF's extensions pages (see link Neox provided). Thus I tried new ones. *Ranting mood*
I now try to acces the extension of improved tab control (post #14) but I can't acces the site.
Anyone can help me out? :shiftyl:

Edit add: Finally! I got the Tabbrowser extension to work (refered above in post #14). *Yay*
It's simply awesome. Now I can do almost everything related to web surfing with it.
