Chess game?

Greetings, My name is Pegz and I've had a hankering to play chess. When I first started warcraft 3 a friend of mine insisted I play a game called Cheese Chess. If you've ever played it, you know it really isn't that similar to rl chess. Normally such a thing wouldn't bother me, rl is the exact reason I play video games... But here is my request:

Can someone make me a TFT chess map? If you've ever read the Harry Potter series you will have some idea what I'm looking for. Wizards chess :) . Basically I would like a chess map where you play chess and instead of simply taking a piece off the board, you beat the snot out of it first. Is this even possible?

P.S. Sorry in advance if I've either A) posted in the wrong section B) Require more posts or something before making such a request is allowed C) Suggested something so impossible even a noobie should realize it.

well... I don't know about tft but I like chess (the real game) myself and I think I can copy the real game to WC3, only as RoC and not tft...

but wait for other ppl, I sure that there are many better mappers in wc3 than me in this forum and they might help you way better than me.

P.S. can you use a bigger font? this one is hard to read...

First, I also like playing real chess but this is not a big problem to make, and after all it will be fun to play such game!
I would start right away but I'm extremly bussy.
If no one makes the map 'till I get some spare time, I'll surely make it.
Maybe for Christmas break...

XZminX, Thank you for your offer, Mindslayer, Thank you for showing me that, I'm still interested to see XZminX's take on it, I will look at Peppars map but I'm not done looking for a talented map maker yet :) and from what I've seen, XZminX seems to have a sort of magical touch.

After playing Peppars map I've come to a conclusion: It's boring. I have a chess set. If I want regular old boring chess, I'll use it. I want something with pawns that talk when I click them and attack the other pawns when taking them off the board. Human race would probably have the best models... knights for knights, guard towers for rooks, maybe peasants or footmen for pawns ect.

I want a Chess game that's got wc units as pieces. Thats the entire thing. Knights as knights, pesants as pawns, towers as rooks, so on and so forth. instead of simply taking the square from the opposite teams piece, I want it so that the piece attacks the piece occupying the square it's about to take. I'll see if I can quote the lines from the harry potter book so that it's in plain terms :-P

Thank you, And it's for my own fun mostly. I've no problem sharing wih others though, it is hard to find a good match of Chess now adays. It's more for me (and maybe my brother) but if you'd rather I did (or didn't) share it, you've but to say.

The only reason I found and came to this site was to show off my first custom map: Murmix Chess.


No idea how it compares to that other chess, since I don't have TFT to test it, but mine is unprotected too and working pretty well already, though not quite finished.

...and yes, originally I wanted the pieces to attack one another just like in Battle Chess on Amiga or that Harry Potty thingy you're talking about.

But, while figuring out how to do the attack and then trigger the unit to move to the center of the square, I made a temporary solution, there is "The Judge" - a mortar team standing on the edge of the board and lobbing a mortar on the taken pieces, splashing gore on the entire tile.

It's still so fun to watch that I decided to keep it.

Ooh, re-reading this thread, I realized that my pieces don't talk, since they are not really owned by the players that control them, but that is a simple thing to add for the next version to make it even more fun!
