So has anyone gotten/played on a DS yet? Care to give it a reveiw? I'm considering buying one and would like a reveiw from a real person who actually had to pay money for it, and is not biased in any way (unlike reveiws from special people who got it for free and were probably biased)

I don't think I'll be buying one... I never really played gameboy very often anyway, I'd pretty much be wasting my money as I'd never use it.

I asked for one, my mom said no, then bought one for my little brother. : :concern:

I asked for one, my mom said no, then bought one for my little brother. : :concern:so "borrow" his, play it, post a reveiw for it here, then do a "durability test" on it caus I really want to know how long that touch screen will last...and its not like its yours it it? :smirk:

You're right BMB, I should have absolutely no respect for the belongings of others.

I was kidding. BUT you could still borrow it (with permission) and try it out and tell us how it is.

Touch screens are most wierd for a portable device >_>

Yeah, and in one review I came across, it put down the touch screen as something nice and pleasant to begin with but soon turns out to feel like a gimmick.

The problem I see with the touch screen is that there will be no... what is it? tactile resistance? Or whatever with it. When I am playing something -- especially something portable, I want something that I can feel -- not something I have to look at.

Couple that with the fact that most of the time you dont look at your fingers while your doing 'combos' and the screen touchy thingy just seems... well your right, gimmicky.

I played it at a Circuit City... I personally didn't like the touch screen at all. I mean, who the hell wants to fire by tapping a pencil-mabob on a screen? buttons are the way to go.

buy the psp! [/subliminal message]

I already have DS, and for the people who like portable systems, it's a dream come true:D.

DS has great graphics (better than the N64's and the PS1's), and suprisingly isn't as big as I'd thought it would be.
The touch screen works very well, but I have no idea on how to test the durability. And if the touch screen somehow gets 'off your touch', you can re-calibrate it so it works better.
Stereo sound. Wireless connection for a guarunteed 30 feet and tested up to 100 feet. Wireless talking feature (Pictochat) and can 'download' games to play multiplayer with your friends. And then some. Need I say more?

thanks for the reveiw tb473, thats what I was looking for, someone who actually owns a DS and has been playing it for a while. Anyone else actually own a DS? You can't judge a game or system unless you have actually tried it (more than just for 5 mintues at a store)

Do you need special headphones to hear the stereo sound?

And I dont know about better graphics xP There are some really nice looking games for the PS1

Haha, most headphones are stereo. The DS has two speakers.

yes, the ds has two speakers, but I'm not sure what their quality is. as for graphics, nintendo has always gone for polygons over whatever graphics the ps series uses. Notice almost all nintendo games are made up of polygons while the ps ones are....more flat?

I have a DS and i think it is the best investment (and a great wat to stop boredom on a plane flight from singapore to australia. 7 hrs) The touch screen is used in most games and i am pressing on the touch screen very hard when playing Metroid. It has never dented. It is also very Sensitive. It can play GBA games . Says so in the manual (read it otgo!!!) The mic is good but nt very receptive. Cant play multiplayer on a plane though. Sound is good and the back light helps on camping trips where there is no light. All in all a good handheld
