Have any of you ever played a worms game? Wasn't it really annoying how you had to take turns, and could only fire a certain amount each turn? Well, some genious guy put together a little game called liero. It's basically a real time version of worms, with lots of deadly explosives and other sorts of weapons. Just recently this guy came up with Liero Xtreme which is basically liero with a bunch of features like support for up to 8 players and online gameplay (like battle.net).

Sometime we should organize a warboards liero game night, I can host a server if we need one.

You can find the website here:

http://lieroxtreme.thegaminguniverse.com/ (http://lieroxtreme.thegaminguniverse.com/)

here are some screenshots of the game:

I got hooked on Liero a couple of years back... a very fun little game. I suggest you guys try it as a break from Half-Life 2 ;)

Now why the hell did I buy a new computer that could handle all the insane grapghic whore games out there when liero has been around the whole time? Some things in this world a are a little screwy.

Damn 56k download... nvm lol

You guys would probably find it easier to organise a game in WarBoards IRC, instead of trying to organise one here...

NOTE: when making a server you need to check "register server" if you want it to be public and let other people online join. You also need to open up certain ports, just like warcraft3

Nobody joined. ^^see above

a way to find out if its working is to minimize the game while hosting, start another liero game and see if your games on the server list and see if you can join it

Oh my gosh! Yay! Liero and StarCraft are the only two games I ever play these days. I simply couldn't wait for someone to bring out a network multiplayer version. I can't believe it's finally here! What a cool person!

thats what I said. Someone set up a server and name it Warboards......I think thats what I'll call my server from now on (I called it ultamate server before)

Whenever I get aroudn to playing I'll be on server "warboards" ok? everyone else, host a server and name it warboards. If you see a warboards server already, join it. Thats how we'll go about meeting up because there is no freinds system or messaging system on liero.net? (what is it called anyways?)

liero netcode isnt that good, and occassional crashes occur.

good game nonetheless.

I too suffer from crashes approximately once ever 4-6 games or so. Has anyone discovered a way to avoid this?

how are you setting up a dedicated server? you cant leave one running all the time, you have to be there to change settings/start the next game

Liero is cool, I've played it before, but I think Worms is better actually :) Turn-based action allows for more careful planning and therefore more skill required. The difference between an advanced player and a newbie is much more evident in the Worms games.
