We need CD/DVD burner on new computer.
What is difference between DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive and DVD+/-RW ?
Do they both burn and also what is better a 16X or a 48x drive ?

With a DVD/CD-RW drive, you'll be able to watch DVDs and burn CDs, but not burn DVDs.
With the DVD+/-RW drive, you'll be able to watch DVDs, burn DVDs, and use CDs, but you may not be able to burn CDs.

16x is for DVD writing, the 48x is for the CD writing. The 16x DVD writing is equivelent to a 144x CD burner.

I beleive DVD+/-RW also does CD burning.

ayars, if you get a DVD burner check to see if its a DVD+RW or DVD-RW, or if its DVD+/-RW. there are two types of blank DVDs, + and - . basically a DVD+RW can burn + DVDs, etc.

Yeah, you're going to want a DVD±RW drive.
The things are darn cheap nowadays, ~$80 for an internal model. There are a few models for ~$50 that don't support the DUal-Layer DVD+R medium, if you'd like to go for the cheapest effective product.

I don't think there are many burners out there that burn to only one type of DVD media anymore.
If there are, they're not successful products anyway. :Þ
