Man this band kicks ass. My favorite songs are 'And justice for all' 'Blackened' 'One' 'Fade to Black 'Frayed ends of Sanity' 'Creeping Death' 'Metal Militia' 'Of Wolf and Man' 'Master of Puppets', and 'The thing that should not be'
Actually, every song from the first 5 albums is my favorite.
Unfortunately, Metallica has declined in quality, starting from the Black Album, in my opinion. Black album had too short songs, too little meaningful lyrics, and too short solos. And, of Course, Load and Reload were actually underrated in my opinion, but could have been alot better. And, of Course, 'st. anger' is pretty much shit.
Anyways, what do you guys think about Metallica?

I think they're a decent band, S&M really owned hard.

well, to be honest, I've been a Metallica fan (JUST METALLICA) for most of my life and I even enjoyed St. Anger for the lyrics and the feelings of despiration and lonliness and basically that album, as underrated as it was, helped me through some hard times last year because I was going through a few things in my life. I agree though, it was not the best album by them, but it was truly good to hear something from the band after a 6 year original song hiatus.
and yes, the first 5 albums owned hard, and load and reload were VERY much underrated (due to the departure of their signature sound for something that comes with maturity) but I LOVE load and reload (they, besides "black", were the first two albums I ever heard from Metallica and I thought that the meaning far outweighed the lack of a hardcore metal sound)
Anyway, I've been listening to Megadeth lately and they are a fantastic band. For anyone who believes that they are just a Metallica ripoff (as I did for several years, and by doing so deprived myself of some great music) are truly missing out on some outstanding work and I would recommend them to anyone looking for the true metal sound lost on many young bands today

Metallica was the first band I ever got into.
Fade to Black, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Master of Puppets, The Memory Remains, The Unforgiven II, and Enter Sandman are my favorites.
Reload was definately an underrated album, although there are some songs on it that I would rank near the bottom of Metallica songs.
btw: I have Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, and Reload, but my Master of Puppets CD is nearing the end of it's existence (damn scratches), and I lost my Ride the Lightning CD. Such bad luck with Metallica CDs =\

They happen to sing my favorite song, "Enter Sandman." Alas, I have not seen them live though.

Yeah, metallica is known as the best rock band ever, and I can easily see why. I mean, for those that have been to their concerts, you should know the most, by the excitement in the air and the volumn level adds to that as well. I've recently gotten into guitar but I am learning extremely fast. I've been playing for about 1/2 of a year and mostly everything I've learned is Metallica. Master of Puppets, Fade to Black, One, Enter Sandman, Fuel, Some kind of monster and Seek and Detroy I can play nearly perfectly, anyone else know how to play any Metallica songs?

Metallica has some good songs, I like some of the S&M album too.
Eh, their ok. All my friends love them. I personally don't think they are anything special; I perfer Slipknot because they don't use many guitar solos, which I hate.
But I do like their songs 'One' and 'No Leaf Clover'.
