Pistol sniping the elite. (Halo 1)

In Legendary, is it possible to kill an elite in one hit with the pistol? and if it is... where do i shoot for? I've tried neck... back of the head... and face... none of them seem to work.

Yes, Plasma pistol the shields away (Full charge) then you can shoot them in the back of the head if they are unaware (even though theyre aware like 90% of the time)

I almost completely skipped using the pistol and sniper rifle. They just didn't seem to help much. For taking down elites on foot, I'd recommend using a regular plasma pistol or plasma rifle. You should be able to put enough shots into them to take away their shields. At that point, they normally pause to make some battle cry, which is your chance to finish them off.

For another (and sometimes better) alternative, use the needler whenever possible against the elites. Stick a full clip into them, and that should bring them down. Don't underestimate the needler... it's gotten me through some rather difficult situations.

The only thing that's really helped me against elites is a very careful approach. Always have something to hide behind, and if your shields get low, which will happen after just a few shots from a plasma pistol, duck away somewhere to recharge.

It's difficult to kill them, but it's very possible.
