Flagship Studios:
A computer game programming company. Employs and was started by an assembly of programmers from Blizzard Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Universal. ;see Guild Wars

Vivendi Universal gave the world Simpsons: Hit and Run, as well as Futurama the Game. Both were excellent console games IMO. Side note: I own SIMPH&R for PC and it's a nice break from assbeatings in Starcraft. ^^
Can't wait to see what Flagship brings us.

Flagship did Simpsons: Hit and Run? That's probably the best Simpsons game I've played. Good humor from the series, perfect voice acting for the characters and fun gameplay.
wait, Flagship's the company making Guild Wars? I tried that game on the World Game Testing Thingy, and I think that game is great, possibly gonna be better than WoW (haven't played WoW yet, but my friend says it's not very good as an MMORPG), but Guild Wars rocked!!!!! If Flagship's the company that made Guild Wars, then I support them all the way!!
sorry to double post, but could someone confirm that Guild Wars is made by Flagship before I make a Guild Wars thread? Thanks a ton.
Flagship is not making Guild Wars. Nor did they do Simpsons.
They are a brand-new company, formed by Bill Roper and other former members of Blizzard North.
FlagshipStudios.org will be our newest ORG site, yes.
I've never heard anything about it. What kind of games will they make?
*shrug*
You can go here, http://flagshipstudios.org/artwork/
and take a look at their officially released artwork.
They've yet to announce the name or real specfics about the game they have in development.
There's several other good resources on that same site, as well.

Took a minute to check out AJ's link and I've broken down my opinion about Flagship. They look to have very good artists and will probably churn out worlds equal to or that'll possibly rival the worlds of Warcraft, Diablo, and Starcraft. However, without games free of major bugs, good reviews, yummeh addiction, or the most important part, hordes of ravenous fanboys, they shall surely fail...

Guwaha! This is great that we finally have a forum about FlagShip.
As far as FlagShipStudios failing, bah, I just can't see it happening. They've got some of the best programmers and gamers in the field doing what they love best - making a game that even they can enjoy :).
Although Blizzard does have a ridiculously large amount of popularity currently, that popularity is based on the fact that they churned out great games and continue to do so. Well, the guys that originally churned out those amazing, addictive games have all teamed up to make the most awesomest team of awesome programmers, artists, gamers, software engineers and whatnot.
The only thing that's killed me about FlagShip is that they're incredibly secretive of their projects. We'll be lucky to hear anything major in the next few months, but I'll do my best to scavenge the best of the best news :).
Edit:
However, without games free of major bugs, good reviews, yummeh addiction, or the most important part, hordes of ravenous fanboys, they shall surely fail...
Oh yeah, remember, these are the guys that brought us Diablo . . . I'd sure call that addiction ^_~.

Why the hell is there so much hubbub about a game that we don't know anything about, much less know if it even exists?
Edit: OK, I've now gone through the entire fucking website (flagshipstudios.com) and the only information I have gleaned is that:
a) They are making a game.
b) It is an RPG, but not an MMO.
Wow.
Anyways yeah sure maybe something good will come out of this, but until I see some detailed info I'm not holding my breath. It's amazing to me how these guys can get enough funding for a project like this when they (seemingly) don't even know what they want.
But I think it's good that ORG Network is on top of this issue, because once Flagship Studios goes huge, we'll be one step ahead.:)
Give me some juicy rumors so I can stop being such a Scrooge.
Btw, when is the ownership changeover planned for the .org domain?

Hmmm, I haven't read their website in a while, but I get the idea that both Guild Wars by ArenaNET and the new game by Flagship Studios are going to be a lot like what we would think of as Diablo 3. Strangely, most of the employees who moved from Blizzard to form these two companies were involved in the Diablo project and nothing else.
I'm not actually that excited about either ArenaNET or Flagship Studios. First of all, I'm not an RPG player, I prefer StarCraft. But my main point is, the games don't seem to be going for the Blizzard-brand perfectionist type of idea, and they are missing the budget, wide range of expertise and x-factor that Blizzard has. They just need to have that extra kick.
What I'm thinking is, perhaps Flagship and ArenaNET took the programmers, graphic artists, cinematic creators, and all the specialised people who work directly on the game. But they forgot to take the idea developers, or the testers, or the other people who were inspiring. These people are just as important to the company, and it might be why I'm not feeling inspired by these two companies at the present moment.

I didn't even hear about this...and I get the stupid Blizzard newletter!! XD
But seriously, concerning the concept art, looks nice. They seem to still be into the ideas of magic and demons, but there's some modern and somewhat futuristic tones to some of the pieces of concept art.
Magick and Futuristic Technology....
Could be a fun game. :)

Vivendi Universal also butchered Spyro and Crash, two really good series's until VU took over the project.
Anyway, I can't wait to see what Flagship produces.
I can't wait to hear more as well. I've been waiting for something of substance for a year now and all we've really gotten is some concept art and interviews from Roper that do little more than assure us good things are coming. However, they do have a great group of people at FS so I'm sure they'll do well, it just may take a little while longer because they don't have all the resources of Blizzard. I'm surely willing to wait to see what they're capable of.

What up Jeff?! Do you know any of the guys around here?
You've got a cool site there and it should be a fun and beneficial partnership.

Yea flagship is not the part of blizzard that was strong in programming but more impressive in art and world design.
Arena.net are the good old netcode gurus. Which is why they are churning out a mmorpg/onlinerpg hybrid on top of a new streaming/instancing architecture.
Flagship will most likely be churning out something with a very interesting story and slew of original creatures.
If they are planning to release for the pc and have it online, they are going to need help. Without battle.net or the creators behind it they might be stuck between a rock and a hard place in that area. Their programmers are specialists in AI and world programming like random map generation etc.
They are also going to need a publisher. They dont have the backing of a massive corperation like ncsoft which is powering Arena.net and their game Guildwars for a model that will run semelessly and comfortably for a long time.
My guess is they will probably run through Sierra or THQ. Which let the players do their own hosting and isnt really all that healthy for a rpg that would be played online when you need an infrastructure like diablo that would allow players to have characters that are constant and dont change every time they enter a game.
It would be cool if they jumped in with ncsoft :/. Then they would have all the network they need, ncsoft being an online distribution corperation.
Publishers:

http://flagshipstudios.com/press_003.htm
Also, while they have said the game will have an online component, we really don't have many details at this point. It may not be on the scale of Diablo 2, perhaps instead something simpler that will let players host their own game servers.

SO... not much activity around here... anything new with FS Jeff?
No news, unfortunately. I'm on their fansite email list and I check their site daily for updates, so if something new does come out it will be up on FS.org. Anything major I will post here on WB as well. I'm also planning on starting a mailing list to keep those interested informed of major news.

So I was wondering, we don't really know what kind of game FS is coming up with but maybe we could start a fan art section were we can design our own concepts of what it might be, based on the concept art we have seen so far. (Not saying I will make any contributions seeing as how I'm about as proficient with a drawing tool as a dog is with a spoon, but it's just an idea.)
Thanks for the suggestion! We do have a fan art section on FS.org, but unfortunatly there's not much there. If anybody would like to create something either post it here in the FS section or get in contact with me and I'll gladly add it to the site :)

Yeah but creating fan art could provide nice ideas of what the fans would want FS' project to be...

None that I have much info on, if at all.. But our Mod here Jeff would surely know if something came up.
Till then let's hope fans submit their creative works of art.
Yeah.. man its like creating a trailer for a movie does not even exist.. I don't quite agree with this analogy. A movie studio will release a trailer while the movie is still in production. A game company will do the exact same thing. In fact, Flagship Studios has already released a video (http://flagshipstudios.org/files/) that was shown at E3.
I will agree with you, however, that perhaps it is too soon for fan art for a game that we know little about. I was just throwing it out there that if somebody does actually feel like creating something at this point, I will put it up on the site.
Hmm. is there any project that they are working on ? The project that Flagship Studios is working on currently is their first PC game (http://flagshipstudios.org/games/), an RPG that we don't know a whole lot about at this point, other than the concept art that has been released.
our Mod here Jeff would surely know if something came up. Yep, I'm on their fansite mailing list and also check the official site and other fansites fairly regularly. Check back in the coming months and I'll keep the community updated as things progress. :)

Looking at the concept art on the site.. I get a feeling for a world setting of form in which, arcane magic, evolved lifeforms, radical new society systems would be prevalent.
Some factions would perhaps be "technologically advanced" while others would have gone back to "ancient knowledge"
My 2 cents

Will they have a open beta test for the players i hope so make it easyer to get into the game like other compies did. I will keep a eye out for the beta test. Good Luck
