I think an interesting online feature for sc2 would be Mini MMO RTS maps.
-24 players a game
-Giant 1200x1200 maps
-Renewable resources in certain areas
-When an opponent quits the game his forces and minerals could be awarded to a player or evenly distributed to all players.
-Random events such as ion storms and zerg infestation
-After a while forces age and buildings degradehttp://www.warboards.org/images/editor/menupop.gif
-New people can start in the game in a random unoccupied area

Something along those lines, and the game could run for a week at a time. Watching alliances form and new empires take off could make spectating pretty interesting. Well its just a thought.

Exactly, those games could have their own latter system for all the player who participated or even just spectated.:)

Great idea - I love it - but it won't work. To play one of these games successfully would take a powerful graphics card and fast internet connection with any graphics greater than what StarCraft uses now.

I know, but SC2 isn't showing anywhere in the too soon future. So lets hope for the technological leaps and bounds to make such a thing possible. All ways gotta have the hope.

Naw, wouldn't work. I had a similar idea- Nation games, with just two players, but a huge map, and lots of city building, sorta like a violent, mulitplayer SimCity, but with SC/WC- but it was just infeasable, so I gave up. It will take decades for us to get to that point.

With the ugliest graphics in the world.
