View Full Version : Ground Rules
Aight, I'm no mod....yet....but still, I say we lay down some ground rules around here.
A few things got quite outta hand over @ BF. There needs to be some kinda guidelines for how noob your thread can be. No posting about strats for beating 3 comps or any of that garbage. I think if we keep the noobness to a minimal, this can actually a be a "tactical" board.
1. No posting strats or reps about comps.
2. No posting threads about whether or not APM is important.
3. I do think we should implement some of the things we have over in BF though, like a build order archive and such.

Stickied for now. :)
I'll talk to Two and see if he's interested in coming here, or at least letting us import his threads.
Btw, feel free to add on, and we can get a idea of how fair the rules are.

I'd say that self-bosting should be disallowed as we all know Staind will actively participate in it.
J/K, much love Staind

4. Outlaw anything related to a money map.
Although some of us enjoy the occasional bgh, I don't think it really helps anyone's game to watch reps and hear strats about it.

How about
5. People can post silly threads, but Ash gets to flame them until they cry.
6. Anyone who can't be bothered spelling words correctly or adding punctuation to posts gets above treatment.
7. No newbies posting stupid advice, or same as above :D

8. No posting threads about "your favorite" whatever. Whether it be race, spell, unit, any of that.
9. Too many threads at BF were shut down due to flaming. There are boundaries between arguing and being an asshole. Don't teeter the line too closely.

I'll take this opportunity to remind everyone that any posts supporting or advertising piracy, hacking or cheating are not accepted.
10. Don't talk like a person knows what they are doing. I myself am somewhat of a newbie to replays and such. Don't be rude to one who asks a question. If I asked (And I will) something like 'What is a hydraling rush build order, don't reply 'Man you newbie, shut up and go away,' but actually answer the question. Don't be high on yourself, because these forums are meant to teach people as well as show strategies. Remember that! x.x

11.Try to create or post on archive threads rather than creating a thread for each new thing

2-->Not in Tactics, no. They should be allowed in the General Starcraft area, however, as a topic for debate.
4-->Though I personally don't like money maps, this forums is labeled Tactical Data and Replays, not Lost Temple Tactical Data and Halls of Valhalla Replays.
5--> Eh...
6-->Some people have trouble with this, man. You can't rag on them just because they can't, or won't, spell right. I'd just like for them to keep it readable.
7-->Who's at position to label a person a newbie? And who’s to say the advice is stupid? Who actually has this right to label themselves god of the universe, or at least of TD&R? The mods and admin? Sure, but they only run the forum. The bones, muscle, sinew and tendon. The brain and heart. But we are still the blood that keeps WB alive.
8-->As with #2, in the general Starcraft area only, I think.
12-->I didn't even notice it till somebody pointed it out. Just don' make a big deal outta it man.
<XoX> Ok, I love democracy. Whoever (Locke, wasn't it?) wrote that in the natural state of life, which is constantly in chaos, fire and brimstone raining down, and anarchy spreading like plague, people must give up there natural freedoms to balance out the natural state of life. Do you see this forum turning into a seething cesspool? I see no brimstone yet. I haven't seen in problems lately, through my eyes, other than a few misplaced thread and some flaming on assassin_666's part (not to label just you). I really would rather be free then have restrictions brought down upon me.
In other words, don't make it so strict that we won't have any fun. A forum without any fun is dead. BF is dead through tyrannical moderators and administers. The fun died for me after Xenon.

For 11, I have to disagree with that. If the thread is over a month old since the last post, I believe you should create a new thread, unless your question was answered in the original thread. In that case, you just shouldn't post.

Everyone should be well aware of the rules; it's common sense. If you step out of line, we'll be sure to point this out to you before throwing bans around the place (unless you already know better, of course).
