Hmmm... there is a very simple PHP tutorial in the PHP manual. However, I have found online tutorials for PHP to be unsatisfactory, if you go to your local library, you can find a bunch of books on PHP which are phenomenonally useful. The books are like one giant long tutorial.

I'm self tought in PHP. I tried looking for some good books, but it was to no avail.
I then just opened up some sample scripts, and started playing around. I recommend http://www.phpfreaks.com. The people on the forums are extremely helpful as well.
Make sure you get a server to test your scripts on. That's the best way to learn.
Good luck.

What, why do you say that? What language would replace it?

Well, I don't think PHP is on its way out. Although not many commercial sites use it as far as I know, they seem to prefer the technologies that you pay for. Xenon might be referring to the .NET platform which is going to revolutionise computer programs around the globe, because it's so flexible and easy to use. Plus, it's compiled too. But as long as PHP remains free, it'll have a place on the internet.
