I think it would be awesome if in Halo you could have a different skin, such as an Elite, or Hunter. Now i know they'd have to do some major work on the multiplayer system, but i think that in the end this would make the multiplayer a little more exciting... i'm kind of tired of shooting at the same damn thing all the time.

In Halo 2, in multiplayer, you have the option to choose between a Spartan II or a Covenant Elite, any color (including ones that aren't in the single-player game). Both the Spartan IIs and Covenant Elites have exactly the same stats and are only different in appearance and the way they hold weapons (Elites hold SMGs in one hand, for example).

I think it would be cool if they added some characters other than just elites. Maybe they could add hunters, jackals, or grunts, and maybe some new human types like just a regular marine. I know this probably wouldn't fit together well, and would probably never be used. It would have to have some major balancing for all of these characters to be in a multiplayer game at once. Like hunters might have to have reduced health, and wouldn't be able to use any other weapons except the fuel rod gun. They would be the ultimate vehicle stoppers in CTF games. Maybe it could be a special optional gametype setting.
Or, have games where every character is one of these types of creatures. You could have a battle where everyone in the game is a jackal. Of course, their weapon usage would be limited, but it would probably make some interesting games. You'd really need some skill with handling your energy shield and plasma pistol at the same time.

Unknown. Bungie has stated that it is not planned to come to the PC or Mac at any time, though that is, and proably will be, subject to change.

Bungie was Mac only back in 1994. Halo was coming for Mac in 2000. They're not going to not release it for Mac in 2004 (2005? 2006?)
Microsoft is jsut saying that to scare you =P

I always wondered why you didn't get a choice of different skins from the get-go.

HAHAHA, I think I'd be impossible to have balance if people could play as Grunts. No Shields + slow + weak throwing arm + little health + come on, it's a grunt = horribly weakened character. :D

You didn't know that? Oh well, ZDS answered your question.
I don't think it should be any other unit other than the elites, because the Elites are the most similar unit in the Covenant to the Spartans.

Ya have only Spartans and Elites. Cuz if you could choose to be an other type of unit it would just be unbalenced. For instance if you chose to be a cove every body would choose to be hunters, really big, really strong, and impervious to damage (exept rocket launcher blah blah blah). And the only choice for humans would be spartans, cuz the regular guys are cannon fodder.

It would be kind of fun to play as an actual marine though. But again, the whole balancing issue.

Yeah, on the orange spot. It's so fun to do that.

Well, even if the balancing issue was solved, there wouldn't be much of a difference. I mean, the HUD might be a little different, but since it's a first person shooter, its all basically the same.
Yeah, So I don't see why they wouldn't put them in there.. It would be just another look to the game. Balancing wouldn't be that hard.. just equal the life and stuff.

I still think it would interesting to have games where everybody is one type of soldier, either a Marine, SPARTAN-II, Grunt, Jackal, Elite, Hunter, or even a flood zombie.
The zombie might be fun, you'd have a decent claw attack, could pick up weapons, and could jump insanely high.
I'm just saying this could be an interesting option to have for multiplayer, but Spartans vs Elites would probably remain the dominant mode that is played.

It would be kool if you could add Hunters and grunts to multiplayer as bots. They wouldn't be in player controlled teams but rather hostile computer controled unit that attack any players at random. Oh and that flood zombie idea is preatty good too since I remeber in Halo one zombies with guns or was that just my imagination.
