SlipStream Travel?

I dunno how many of you have watched the cool TV series called Andromeda..
They use something called the slipstreams to travel the distances of the universe....I wanted to knoe what exactly this is and whether it is (if it has an ounce of scientific conviction) related to wormhole travel.

i would figure its all science fiction. Travel the distances of a univers, i don't think we are smart enough to even say we thought of a way to maybe to do that.

I havn't watched it but I think this was brought up in the paradoxes of the universe thread.

Can we try to limit the star trek-esque type of threads. They teeter on the edge of serious discussion, and I think one thread is more than suitable to discuss pseudo sciences.
