Open Beta Sign-ups Coming Soon!

We are happy to announce that we will soon be accepting applicants for the World of Warcraft® Open Beta Test for North America. The open phase of beta will give people a chance to enter Azeroth and play World of Warcraft before the game is released. More details will become available in the days ahead, so stay tuned.

*Sigh* I went over to blizzard.com and rushed back here, only to find I'm second with Warcraft news again. Yeah, they said before that the game would be released shortly after open beta. If you played the stress test, there isn't too much left to do, although there are some issues that would be unacceptable in a pay by month game, if there was no monthly fee the game would fly off the shelves if it was released as is.

You know, the one thing that gets to me is... if it's an open beta, why are thier sign ups? Maybe i'm takeing the statment a bit far, but doesint open beta mean, register, download, play? When do you need to sign up? Wait... I think I answered my question? o.o;

They want you to sign up because it's open-for a while. It'll probably be a week long, but if you try to sign up after it started they wont let you. "Open" would mean they don't pick from the registrations they get but the registration time will probably be limited.

I'll probably end up buying retail, but a free week or so will be very welcome to me. Gives me a chance to test out what alliance and race/class I want. Plus, it'll be fun- I've been anxious since the stress test ended. Can't wait!

I don't think I'll bother playing open, even though I know a lot of people that are going to. Mainly because of time lackage, but moreso because the servers are going to be completely tackled, for the most part, with people not even intending to play the game post-retail.

I'm not saying that's a bad thing, as I've played many a' open betas in my day. But generally you see a lot of bad manners in the open beta environment.

Manners couldn't be worse than the stress test. People were really awful, I've got to believe this will be a little better. If it isn't I'll just hang around with my friends and we'll gang smack anyone who opposes :)

I don't know what server you were playing on, but I played on Sargares and I can recall ver little 'awful' people. I would say 95% of the people I met were kind, nice, and/or fun and humoures. I playedo n Sargares, that was a PvP server to boot. Aside from the 'Grom Grom!' I heard from orcs, I don't recall a rude thing : P

I also played the horde, and played up to the 20's with them. So I am not going by alliance only.

God damn, they're just not going to make open beta ever, are they? It's been ten days without a damned of an announcement and they won't say anything, let alone respond to threads. The development crew makes me rather upset...
