Easter eggs are not glitches in the game. The developers put them there for us to find them and now we have. Some are hard and some are easy to find. This offers a complete list of currently known Easter eggs and tells you how to find them!
These are all true so don't scream if you didn't find it...just try harder or ask questions.
Pistol Power
An unusual symbol graces the bottom of the magazine on the human pistol. The meaning of this design was unknown until the bungie design team let out the news of what the symbol meant. The symbol is the Chinese character for "power". Note that the Chinese character for "7" is found on the pistol's top!
The Hippo Shell
Bungie's Matt Soel wrote a long treatise on hippos and why they should have been in halo and finished the article with the teaser: "...they may not hug walls anymore, but they're still in the game, and they're still extremely lethal. But you'll need excellent vision...to see them." Soon after some Halo gamers found the hippo location: on a shotgun shell! The easiest way to see the hippo is to use the sniper rifle to zoom in on the shotgun shell.
Bottom of the Boot
During net play some halo gamers noticed the letters "MRL" on the bottom of Master Chief's boot with the help of the sniper rifle. The letters are the initials of Marcuz R. Lehto, Halo's art director and the man behind Master Chief's skin.
A Scorpion's Birthday
Some halo gamers noticed that the numbers ("030569") on the front tread of the Scorpion looked suspiciously like a date. Turns out they were correct! It just so happens that Marcus Lehto, Halo's art director, was born on March 5th, 1969.
All Your Gametypes Are Belong To Us
Highlight the Edit Gametypes option in Halo's multiplayer section; an adjacent screen will show a technical drawing of the Master Chief with various nearly unreadable text pointing to various parts of his body. Close examination of this text reveals some amusing entries. For example, the second entry on the right side (pointing to the Master Chief's left chest plate) says "All your base are belong to us," which refers to a popular Internet fad a few years ago.
The Bulletin Board
Discovered by Tom Klancer, the bulletin board was the earliest Easter egg found in halo. It's right after you leave Captain Keyes (it can be seen again in the Marine mess hall). It's a bulletin board filled with notes and posters. The bulletin-board notes read, from right to left:
For Sale: Pentium XI 33GF, Chicago Office, Colony Ship 3 Speed, Manual Transportation, Hyde Park Condo, Integrity
Duty Roster, Pillar of Autumn, Rev 01
FIGHT FOR HER (poster of earth)
Marines, Keep It Clean!, clean your area, toss your filth, put away your tray
Marines, Scooters are for squirts, no scooters on deck
Lost: Calico cat. Answer to Jonesey
Attention Marines. Callbacks for South Pacific.
Myth Meets Halo
Some Halo gamers discovered a musical Easter egg on the single-player level Assault on the Control Room. Snag a Banshee in Assault on the Control Room's final open area (just before the control room). Fly toward the control room. There are three ledges that bracket the central pillar in front of the door. You want the middle ledge.
Land your Banshee parallel to the walkway, facing left (with respect to the door), and hop out the back. Be careful because if your not perfectly straight, Master Chief could hop out to his death! Walk to the right end of the ledge and stand still. You'll hear a beautiful piece of music for Bungie's real-time strategy game Myth: The Fallen Lords. The piece is titled "The Siege of Madrigal".
There has also been another musical piece discovered in Halo. This can be heard at the beginning of Assault on the Control Room. Use a banshee to return to the very beginning of the level. Go down into the blue mist as far as possible then walk around the edge slowly until you hear music.
Keys Still Smokes
When you arrive on the single-player level Keyes, your goal is to reach the captain and recover his neural implants. But when you find him, he's become a giant blob and part of the Flood. His face may not be recognizable, but something was left in the back of the blob. Bungie employee Evil Otto teased fans with a close-up shot, but it wasn't until some clever halo gamers' conformation that Keyes still has his pipe that the Easter egg was finally discovered.
Food Nipple Grunt
This is everyone's favorite Easter egg! During the final stages of The Maw as you're driving at top speed toward the Longsword fighter, find a side passage off to the right (approximately 915 meters left on the indicator). Head halfway through the tunnel and get out of the warthog. There's a short, dead-end tunnel to your right. Corpses cover the tunnel's floor and a single special ops Grunt stands at the very end. Approach the Grunt and he says," Good thing that food nipple's waitin' for me at the starship 'cause man! Have i worked up a big, grunty thirst!"
Bloody Rex
At the very end of The Maw, you have to complete a long jump in the Warthog. A shorter jump follows as you exit the tunnel. Some Halo gamers decided to explore rather than make the second jump.
After you watch as Foe Hammer goes down, you continue forward as usual and soon approach the huge jump that takes you down a few stories. Well, when you're plummeting down toward the landing area, notice the bridge (with several containers and two open doors on either side) over another big ramp. If you prop the Warthog on the far ledge with its front wheels hanging over, you should be able to jump on the structure and walk along it to the bridge.
Look in the left-hand room (with respect to the way you're walking) and you'll see that the wall has been "tagged" in blood with "rex," short for "Ferrex" the online handle for the level's designer, Bungie Studios' Tyson Green
The Megg
The Megg is found in Halo's first single-player level, The Pillar of Autumn, and only on legendary difficulty. The Megg is an Easter egg that Bungie designer Jaime Griesemer put in for his girlfriend Meg. The name Megg (a blend of "meg" and "egg") was coined by Sep7imus, a halo.bungie.org regular. When interest in the Megg piqued, Meg started giving hints and the fan base went wild. Around a month or so after the Megg hunt began, a few gamers figured it out. Shortly thereafter more and more people had figured it out. The following is my version of the process, which involves two triggers that you must set before you can make the final move.
First Trigger:
1. Climb up the Master Chief's cryotube immediately after you have control.
2. From the cryotube, jump on top of the shield-generator station.
3. Run up the catwalk to the wall directly above the crewman waiting at the door. Don't look at the crewman!
4. Run down the catwalk to the three barrels.
5. Jump onto the top barrel.
6. Slowly look toward the left side of the room, specifically toward the opposite corner of the room.
7. When the crewman shouts "C'mon!" and runs out the door, wait until the explosion occurs and the music begins.
8. Proceed to the bridge.
Second Trigger:
1. Receive the human pistol from Captain Keyes.
2. Kill the three grunts outside of the bridge.
3. (optional) Pick up the assault rifle, kill some Covenant in the cafeteria, and stock up on gernades. If you decide to do this make sure you have full health.
4. Return to the bridge.
5. Use the pistol to deliver a headshot (it must be a headshot!) to the three standing crewmen.
6. Kill Captain Keyes!
The Megg:
1. Immediately after killing Captain keyes, leave the bridge and turn right. A door opens and invincible Marines stand on the other side.
2. Stay alive for approximately five seconds, after which the second door will open. The invincible Marines have deadly aim in Legendary difficulty. If you have trouble surviving, throw grenades into the room or use the assault rifle to mow them back and prevent more damage.
3. Make it past the marines and into the next room (revealed when the second door opens). The Megg is on the ceiling near the end of this secret room. It's a bloody heart with the latter M inside, made from bullet holes.
4. After you have seen this miraculous sign you have no choice but to die. Let the marines do their job.
I got all of those from the Bungie Website, and no, I didn't write them all myself.. I copy any pasted and then edited. :)
Anyways, I'm sure most of you have read these all before, but I am posting them here for people who may not have seen them already.
Out of curiosity have any of you done/found all of them?
I have actually done/found most of these except The Megg. That one is extremely hard to do for me. lol.. but I'm sure most of you haven't even done it.. and if you have done it.. err, you probably need a life! :P
