I have downloaded some maps while playing online and i have discovered that many maps are locked and when you try to edit them it claims they are not proper sc files. Plz tell me how to open these maps and i promise they will not edited and played on line.

Don't try, people tried hard to make those maps, and they protected them for a reason: So no one can get at there hard work, copy triggers, and take credit for themselves. Also, this whole site is against unprotecting, hacking, and anything else that violates the "Terms of use" of starcraft, warcraft, and diablo II. If you really want to find out those amazing triggers, you could ask the maker(s).

-Sigh-

I really hate doing this to people, but it has to be done:

1. Welcome to Warboards. You must be concidered new if you've asked one of these questions:

A) How do you do [insert overused bound trick here]
B) How do I [unlock] / [unprotect] / [re-open a protected version of] a map?
C) Where do I get [Insert editor here]?
D) Post something in total 1337 speak.

2. You have chosen B. The answer is now being transmitted:

You can't. Yes, I'm lying. But you can't. We won't show you. If someone on these forums does, then they aren't really one of our friends. If you've protected your own map, which it seems you haven't, then provide proof that it is yours, and someone MIGHT have the heart to unprotect it for you.

Beyond that, don't ask this question ever again.

Oh, and on top of all this: Before anyone ever posts on these forums, I hope they realize there's a 'Search' feature. You can find threads that have long died and said the exact same thing as this.

I'm not trying to be rude, but after the 40'th thread, it gets REALLY old.

If you have a particular interest in how a certain feature was done in a map, please search through these forums to see if the question has been asked already. If it doesn't exist you can create a thread asking "How did they do this?" and providing a description of what it did or post the map if you can't really describe it. I'm sure someone on this forum will probably know the answer to the question.
