View Full Version : What is your favorite Character?
Through the past, I have switched though the characters and had my favorites, but now my favorite would have to be the Assassin. I would have to say she is my favorite because she can become so powerful, and I have always really had a crush on her. So HAWT! :P She just can become so powerful. :o
So whats your favorite Diablo: Lord of Destruction character?

Hmmm this is a tricky question. My favourite character? Well it kinda depends on the build of the character. But overall I quite enjoy playing Sorceress. Teleport is so fun ^^

Me myself. I like the Barbarian, he is strong and a little slow, but he gets the job done. Even know I haven't played Diablo in a long time. I'm thinking about starting to play again.
Hey Nitrous, and welcome to Warboards. I like the barbarian too, but I think he is a little to slow. And you really should get back into the game, its a great game you know. :P Then we can have another person in here! yay! :P

Amazon is my favorite. Although her attacks should do a hell of alot more damage, and the javalins should be alot more in a stack, plus her elemental arrows should deal out alot more damage. I just like her the best ^_^

Assassin. They have t3h m4d 5ki115! Seriously, they are a very versitile fighter. Their shadow disciplines can seriously tip the scales in your favor in nearly any tight spot. Almost any patch of monsters will easily fall to an assasin using shadow techniques, then coming in with martial arts under the cover of numerous traps. I have also had some of the most fun with death sentry in areas with lots of close packed monsters.
The first time my latest assasin went up on the bloody foothills in normal mode a while ago, she accidently killed shenk and nearly all of his minions with a single death sentry. I threw one up there to keep them busy while i chased down a few death maulers off-screen, like six seconds later i hear the "end of shenk" music. I was like "uh, oops. I killed him already?"

Meh, I once tried a hammerdin. My god, I swear he could'nt hit the broad side of a barn with those damn hammers. Sure they whoop ass when they hit, like in a big room with lots of enemies, but when your in a place like the durance, or any place that has ANYTHING in the terrain where your hammers would run into and dissapate, or your'e trying to knock down a few guys, you have to get in like, just the right position, otherwise those damn hammers miss.
Yeah, I agree. I don't like Hammerdins because of that reason..

Necromancer all the way, but then again Moser already knew that o.O
I just like the different setups you can do with him, be a powerful mage, a deadly poisonmancer, or the good 'ol summoner. I've never been bored playing as a necro (that doesn't mean some of the acts don't bore me though lol). It's also cool being able to still kill loads of monsters if you don't have any good equipment when you're a bonemancer.. sweetness.

Yeah, I tried that build, but he takes way too much mana to do some of that stuff. I was building his mana and vitality with even points, and his HP exccedded his Mana, which, being a spellcaster, is completely inexcusible in my book.
I would have to say the Javazon and Frozen Orb with tunderstorm Sorc are my favorites. The wind druid and assassins are nice too.
With the javazon, she is probably the most versitile charicter in the game. Beging able to go toe-to-toe with diablo melee style(with the right and reasonable equipment), while being able to take out horades of non-lightning immunes with a few thunder strikes is very usefull indeed.
A properly constructer FO sorc can just walk into a room and throw a few orbs down and kill everything not immune to the cold almost insantly. The thunderstorm just adds more power with little effort. With FO on the left mouse button, and Thundestorm on the right, she is basicly a walking goddess, that just throws FOs around, killing almost everything, and whatever is left behind gets fried by the thunder.
A wind druid is pretty good, because if you get his skills up far enough, he can just walk striaght through any area and enemies just fall to the ground in quivering chunks if ice. as soon as they get anywhere near him. His tornado maxed out is a powerfull wave, making him the male equivilent of the FO sorc.
I like the assassin so much because she is basicly a ninja mixed with james bond. Just throw down a cloak of shadows with about 3 wakes of fire and 2 death sentries and watch as blood flies everywhere! Her shadow techniques are very usefull and total bread&butter for any charicter. Her claw skills are nice, but they get a bit less effective as the game goes on though...
Personally, I don't like chars like the barbarian, where all he knows how to do is just swing some swords around with too few skills. Just totally not my style.

I'd have to rank it:
Assassin : Fast, amazing fighters, that can dual wield, reach incredible IAS, because to my understanding, their dual wield claws hits THE FASTEST in the game + BOS + IAS equipment. So fun. Especially if you have crackerbarrels of Vitality pumped and dual Chaos runewords so you can Whirlwind. In-fnucking-sane. (Plus 84786927843652345 points into Venom, with a full inv. of SC's of Blight...)
Amazon : I think Javazon's are nice, but I have to stick with Bowazons. Pwnage with poison. Actually, everything is.
Paladin : Why people like Hammerdin's so much, I'll never know. If you freeze/chill, they'll just run out and pound you with range. Or atleast I would attempt some ridiculous strategy where I somehow trip. I prefer FoH Pally's here. Hammerdin's sit still and cry orgasmic screechs, while FoH's can run out of Hammer range and just blast the bejeezus out of them.
Necromancer : Bone Necromancer. Self explanitory.
Sorceress : Kill everything possible, and if they get too close, your merc as well.
Druid : Watch me change before your eyes, and pull myself out of a hat. Form changing = Sucks. Summoning druids = Sucks. Elemental Druids = Eh, not that bad actually.
Barbarians : I'm sorry for you brain-deads who like to sit there and run stupidly at your foe while they angrily rape you with other things while your guy screams at them to stop and does damage. He's too simple. I need a plan that I can screw up on at any possible moment.
EDIT: This is in order from my most to least favorite.
EDIT2: Forgot the Druid!

On my poisonmancer (back in 1.10 beta) I was fortunate to find a dagger with 100% chance monster flees. They run to you, you attack them, and then they run away from you as the poison takes effect. Very useful for that build, I'd suggest looking out for one if you can.

o_O I have no idea what you're talking about, PN is good. If you max all three poison skills (as a real poisonmancer would) then you're up in the 2k dmg per 2 seconds. That's a lot. And it's only 20 mana, so assuming you can get some mana per kill or a lot of energy, you could spam that thing like crazy.

my personal favorite would have to be the druid. I go off a base picked up from the strategy guide for the expansion set. I like to call it the light tank. In this I completely ignore the elemental abilities and just go on the summoning and shapeshifting abilities. as far as summoning is concerned I focus almost exclusively on the wolves, with just a few points put into the spirits and carrion vine so as to save on potions (that's about a total of 3 right there to give you an idea of few). As for the shapeshifting abilities I focus almost entirely on lycanthropy and werebear, seriously the other abilities aren't even neccessary.
with this setup I can pretty much walk around the map taking on anything foolish enough to get in my way. and if you point out the slowness of the werebear form (which I am getting sick of hearing) that's what the wolves are for, get them strong enough (keep them about the same as your levels in werebear) and they should be able to take on any of the little fast freaks that you'll encounter, even those pesky teleporting imps from the expansion set.
finally I would like to point out one final part of the whole scheme. the whole setup falls apart without the ability to dish out massive amounts of damage. to compensate for this weakness whenever I'm in town on less than urgent biz, (non-boss fights) I'm searching for a better weapon than whatever it is i've got.

First pally used Stone Crusher mallet, Leviathon armor I found when i kiled Baal *GASP*, String of Ears, one Raven and one Dwarf, Highlords, Dracs, Hoz, and War Travs.

My favorite char of all time (and let me tell you, if you wanted to see an account of unique chars, you should have seen mine last ladder season), out of an auradin, a melee sorc, a bonemancer, a psnmancer, a charger, and some other garbage... The winner is:
My charged bolt infinity sorc. Most fun char ever. Kills stuff impossibly fast in PvM, hardcore rapes PvP. You'll never see anyone more surprised than someone dying in like one hit from charged bolt. Mass spammable, fast, and very easy to use. Nothing quite like her. Most people go nova/infinity. I chose the path less traveled ^^.

Quite personally i like in this order and why
Sorceress: Spell casters are my favorite type and elemental casters are cool i love making these characters don't know which element is my favorite though
Necromancer: Although I dont play it much i love the poison and bone tree for PvP not sure which shuld make a new necro of each
Paladin: Paladins are my favorite characters to melee with, smite is the only one i've tried with a good build but i should make a couple new types and test them all out, even though i made an auradin i havent tested him in PvP at all
Barbarian: Whirlwind is so pro of an attack :P i have an axe WW barb dual wields 2 ebotd zerker axes pretty good, some poison charms decent damage.
Amazon: Not really my favorite but i like the bowazon for PvM capabilities and if built right good for PvP aswell ;)
Druid: Ya you would think i like elemental druids but not rellly, i cant get the build right i don't know where i really go wrong but my friend has a godly wind druid and i haven't really tried fire element. Never played a shape shifter directly and for summoning, well personally i hate it i mean u can have a max of 12 summons at a time 10 do damage and 5 of the damage dealers deal next to nothing while the other 5 aren't the best either, bear is good for bosses because of tanking but will get overrun by hordes of enemies (i think anyway) and your 3 wolf spell is decent but they'll still get overrun later on i mean if u could have ur grizlly and both wolf types summon druid would be a favorite but yah.
Assassin: ok i'm not really the type of person to use the assassin in melee and personally i think trap is good for PvM but is a noobish PvP build i mean come on it requires no skill only equipment if your trying to prove your good in PvP use a build that requires a lot of skill thats hard to use but if you can is godly, im not too sure waht is exactly but a really good warcry PvP style barbarian isn't found often in my experiences and havent tried one so i don't know about it but since u have such a small aura around you from your damage spells you wuld have to get right up there stun and get em good and if your facing a good smiter with one then blam u get stunned first kinda over unless u have godly hit recovery.
I play on U.S. West and U.S. East open servers NON-HACKED!!! because hacks are well lame and if you want to try a build out for open but don't know if it wuld be good just give me a call i'll get you a character with a hero editor :smirk:

That was almost incoherent. Rawr.
The Trap skills do take 'skills' to play. I've never made a Trap 'sin, or even know anyone who's made one, but the placement and selection of skills takes know-how. You can't just place Traps anywhere and achieve a kill at higher levels of dueling- I know my Zealot can take an almostg God-like amount of damage, both elemental and non, before falling. If a Trapsin can get me, they deserve the kill.
As for Druids- SS is damn good, when you go Wolf and Fury ^.^

Until you get into the Maggot Lair in act 2. I had a Skelimancer once, he got me a long way until I had to get into confined places in Nightmare and Hell.

It's not that bad if you go mages, but otherwise get an Enigma or an ally/merc unless you want to be stuck for a very long time...

I'd say Barbarian (Hulk Smash!) and the Druid (Tank build level) are the 2 I like the most, after all - I don't do multiplayer.

PALLY WITH SMITER!!!
FULL ON STUN HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Hammerden is good if u got lots a space
Zealot is fun too, especially when u use 2 handed sword (u look so spasitc)
Barbarian is ok, but u rely too much on items, which is a downer. Whirlwind is good though, specially if u have something with knock back
Windy Druid is fun too

If your good with blessed hammers, it's possible to kill even with very little space. The trick is to know where the hammers start and using teleport (with enigma) so that that spot is where the monster is.

Not everyone has an enigma laying around.
Niether does everyone base thier hammerdins off an enigma build.

I don't see why not. Isn't teleporting nothing more than an addition, and a positive one? And then you get the +2 skills from Enigma, 100% MF, and other things I'm sure that are important? I didn't know you could actually base your Hammerdin build off of anything, much less an item that in no way is a detriment...
If I may- how could you *not* base your Hammerdin off of the ability to appear next to the monsters and get away fast?
Not that I'm up in arms or excited about the conversation, it just seems like the +2 skills, MF, and Tele are hard to pass up if you have the means.

There are better options for a hammerdin then enigma.
I'm not saying that enigma sucks or anything, but there are better alternatives.

Is there really? I figured with the resists, MF, and skills it was pretty much Top Tier. What works better?

Enigma doesn't offer resists, it has mf, str, damage reduction, tele, +2, Faster run/walk, and a few other minor mods.

If you're talking in terms of pure strength, barbarian wastes everybody in melee combat.
Now, before you argue, let me explain :P
Properly built, a barbarian should either be a Beserker or a Whirlwinder.
Whirlwinders own in PvP because a single hit from a top level Barb will wipe someone out completely. I'm talking two equal characters here.
Berserkers own altogether, if you build them right. A properly built beserker can take down NM Baal in six hits. Six. That's pretty much one hit on any other character you care to name.
However, you do have to get close to deliver those fatal blows. A good spell caster will waste anyone.
Sorceress - teleport and frozen orb own any other character, with another semi-powerful spell for the cold immune.
Necromancer - correctly used, the curses and minions are next to unbeatable, because he can simply keep reanimating them.
But all this relies on player skill and character construction. If your Barb hasn't got enough mana, he won't be a good whirlwinder.
Anways, besides all this, my favorite char is the Paladin - Fist of Heaven rocks. So cool.
Specially against those Imps on Act V - try moving faster than light, scum... :)

You forgot the Concentrator Barb. They are slow, but have high defense, generally high life (seeing as how battle orders is a synergy), and an uninterruptable attack that deals a ton of damage. Not to mention concentrate has a low mana cost

My favourite character has to be the Paladin :P
But I have tried out all the characters and got over at least level 50 with all of them, so I give each a good try before I picked my favourite

Lightning Sorcs with +30 gc Lifers and stuff are The Best chars that you can possibly create, I believe they have the highest damage possible. My friend said his one which was built perfectly did up to 50 000 damage. even with max resists thats a lot :)
With a conviction merc or infinity, nothing can be immune to the lightning so you Are unstoppable. Its as easy as 300 highrunes :)

How come mages aren't on that list?

Conviction only works at 1/10th against immune monsters, so there are still plenty of monsters that would be immune to you.
The max damage might be 50k, but its a range from 1-50k -- so that averages out at 25k (if your lucky).
Light sorcs are deadly though, but extremely difficult/expensive to fund and build.

Bring in a Zealot with equal gear to the barbarian, and see how he fares as a WW. Blocking 75% of the time tends to do wonders. And if they;re top builds such as mine were, the Pally will generally win.
Block ftw

Whatever happened to concentrate? You know, that level 18 barbarian skill that had decent damage, gives you a good defense bonus, has a decent ar, is uninterruptable, and only costs like 2 mana? Yeah it's a little slow, but so is poison dagger and people still use that.

A good barb using a shield can have a high block rate as well. I'm not too crazy about ww because if you miss you are a sitting duck, but conc barbs are hard as hell to hit as well especially with a little shout even for my zealer.
For dualing melee I'd still prefer smiter as defense and block mean nothing to it.

My favorite char would have to be the Barbarian, although he is a little slow. But thats what faster run/walk charms are for right? lmao!
Barb actually has a skill that increase his run/walk speed ;)
