Erm how do you replace the unit sounds? I'm trying to switch out the Ghost's attacking sound to the Sniper's shooting sound from Red Alert 2. I tried putting it under sounds/terran/tghfir00.wav but nothing happened...

It should be put under sound\Bullet\TGhFir00.wav in your MPQ.

Did it work? If it did, it was probably the backslashes. I'm pretty sure StarCraft will differentiate between backslashes and forward slashes, but I'm not sure, so please tell me if that fixed it.

btw I put it in the patch_rt.mpq, wonder if that affects anything..

If you downloaded the Starcraft and/or Brood War sounds from the resorce section of SC.org and put it in your starcraft folder, that will overwrite any sound mod you are using.

Hi there! There should be a program on StarCraft.org which allows you to edit sounds under CUSTOMS>RESOURCES. I kinda forgot the name of the program, but what it does is it extracts all the wavs from your MPQs for you to edit with the Microsoft Sound Editor or replace with other sounds simply by copying the name. For example: TGhoFir00.wav (original ghost sound) replaced with TGhoFir00.wav (Rifleman shot from WarCraft III) after you use the program once, it should be just about useless... Hope I've helped.

Is there any way to give units that don't have sounds(unused units/Story hero units) sounds? Also, can you change the sounds for the hero units that have the same sounds as their base unit?(Tom Kazansky, Gui Montag, etc.)

Probably not, because I think they use the same sounds as there non-hero counterparts except that they do not have a build sound.

Well, that kinda sucks. Do you know anything about the units that start out with no sounds?

What do you mean by start out with no sounds? Like they don't have any sounds without modification? If thats what you mean I know that most unused units do not have sounds. If you mean that when you make them they have no sound, all heros have no build sounds, but you can give them build sounds in Arsenal Zero.

You use Arsenal Zero. Decompile a units.dat and listed for each unit is this.
Ready Sound=275
What Sound Start=287
What Sound End=290
Piss Sound Start=280
Piss Sound End=286
Yes Sound Start=291
Yes Sound End=294To figure out the number just look in the Arenal III sound editor and find the ID number at the bottom right corner.
