View Full Version : Erm... Need help with duplicating Weapons/Creating a new unit

Well, I'm relatively new to the modding scene, but I do know the basics of it (i.e. assigning different weapons to something, modifying gfx, etc....) but I need help with creating new units in either MemGraft or StarGraft. And I've already tried SD's tutorial at SC.org, it didn't help much... the part with the "Requirements" was a bit fuzzy and threw me off. I'm also wondering how you can duplicate a weapon (i.e. the Longbolt Missile) because I'm trying to make a Marine-Bazooka Troop type thing and if I use the Longbolt Missile, it looks like as if it's shooting from over its head (well actually it DOES look like it's shooting over his head) and I don't want to change the X/Y coordinates for the sprite because then the animation for the Missile Turret would look wrong too. Help please!

If you intend the Marine to shoot ground units with a Long-Bolt, dont get your hopes up it will just crash if u have it as your ground weapon maybe you could have a Saige tank(Tank mode)weapon but you cannot have a long-Bolt

Um, for the record, it won't crash. It just won't do damage unless you have the button clicked for it to do so.
And for duplicating it, i'd recommend going to one of the unused Guass Rifle spots and changing the sprite settings to the longbolt missle (don't have to change the attack settings, unless you want to make it whatever only) and then change the strings at the top to be that of the Longbolt missile. Then play with the X/Y's as you like, and assign the modified Guass Rifle to the marine.

Alright, the requirements is sort of complicated, but what you know what to do, it's a walk in the park. The one that doesn't say 'units' (the button thingy) is for actions, the unit button is ofcourse, for the units. For any unit you'll need Current unit must be [next], now, insert [next] with the place you want the unit to be build at, after that, you may have to go through two different steps, if it's a zerg/protoss unit, skip this, if it isn't then do the following after the building it's built at: (if the building can liftoff/construct add-on) Building isn't lifted off, and building is not constructing add-on, than any new building requirements go after that, if you need an attached addon, like the starport, add the following code: Current unit have attached [next], whatever it needs attached, for a nice and neat order this should go before any other building requirments.

U can also search 'round 4 tutorials in2 what ur tryin' 2 pull in ur mod.
