when WoW comes out, what will you be?
what race?
class?
professions?
why?
i was in the stress test and let me tell you bout it:
dwarf
paladin
blacksmithing/mining
cool race, i like there starting city cause it had a lot of creeps. good for leveling. the class is kinda boring. you can wear all the armor, but the spells are not for soloers (like me)
human
mage
herbalism/enchanting
very fun class. has really cool spells like blink and conjure food. good at soloing and grouping. cant wear alot of the gear, but his awesome skills make up for it.
troll
hunter
skinning/leatherworking
my favorite char. a lot of damage spells, great at soloing and stuff. doeasnt wear all the gear, but he just a beast. good at ranged and melee combat. can do amazing dmaage w/ hunters mark. my favorite!
what will you be when WoW comes out?
or what are you in the beta?
why?

Well, my friend and I are thinking that we're going to go Alliance, even though I was horde in the Stress Test. Probably either a Night Elf hunter, Dwarven Warrior or Human Paladin. I'll have to organize with my friends to see what our party might look like. I played as Undead Mage in the Stress test, and I didn't like the mage, mainly because I couldn't use so many of the items I got.
I have a question for the Closed Beta players...do you get a mount for free at level 40, or is it that you are only albe to buy it at that point? The wording on the site confused me a little.

My life for the Horde!
First character: Orc Rogue, just to get to know the game, and I presume that, when (if) heroes are implemented, this build will be similar to a Blademaster, one of the coolest heroes of WC3.
Second character: Undead Warlock. From what information I have gathered, the Warlock is my favourite class. I want this character to be really good, so I will have it as my second character, after I have learnt the fundamentals of the game :)
Subsequent characters: Troll Priest, Tauren Shaman. 'S all I have, for now...

I'll probably try to remake the characters I have in the closed beta currently.
Human
Paladin
Mining/Blacksmithing
I've always liked playing paladins, even though they can be extremely boring in solo play. Hopefully Blizzard will remedy their lackluster tanking abilities so that they're most useful in instances
Night Elf
Warrior
Herbalism/Alchemy
I like warriors because I can be more reckless than I could with a paladin. I can deal damage faster and have more abitlites, but lack the in combat healing.
Future plans:
Night Elf
Druid
Skinning/Leatherworking
Druids seems fun because they're so versatile. You can be a tank, healer, or damage dealer in a group based on what the group needs.
Human
Warlock
Engineering?
Another non-standard class that seems like it will be fun to play once Blizzard finishes their spells and pets.
Felsteeds/Nightmares (Warlock Mount) and the Warhorse (Paladin Mount) can be aquired for free by simpling talking to a specific NPC. However, the retail version, and maybe later versions of the beta, will require you to complete a quest in order to learn the spell to summon your mount.

I'm definitely going to recreate the primary I made in beta as well. I doubt I'll have any more than one character for a large duration of my gametime - mainly because of school, work and other time restrictive activities.
So here's what I'm looking at:
Gnomish Mage w/
Alchemy
Herbalism
Main spell//talent tree: Frost (a bit of arcane for mana regen)

I'm going to choose a Tauren Druid.
Other than that, I don't know, I don't quite understand the differences between or have appeal towards tradeskills, armors and other things.
Unfortunately, the 2 GB download would've taken 5 days to download on my 56k if I left my computer on all night and it didn't crash, and the stress test was only 7 days. In other words, I didn't enter because I knew it would be a waste.

Were we able to enter anyway, BST? I thought it was N. Americans only, which stopped me from participating.

I played my favourite character and that's going to ruin it for me when I get the full version. :( I played the undead mage, which was absolutely really fun. I loved polymorphing people.
When the retail comes out, I suppose I'll go night elf druid. I might go paladin human or a warlock. I don't know, but I doubt I'll be mage, even though it was incredibly fun for me. It would just be repetetive otherwise.

Yeah, that's the problem if you play your fave character too early...
However, you only participated in the Stress Test, correct? Therefore, I doubt you will have got to the higher levels of gameplay, which will undoubtedly be the most fun aspect of this game. So I think playing a mage would still be fun, as long as you played a different race to Undead, so you do different quests and such.

Yah it's maybe not too good to play your favourite character when you first play because you might stuff it up and you'll probably abandon it and play another character thus not playing your favourite character.

Yes, Tauren are a very cool race.

I tried playing a tauren warrior early on in the stress test. Im real inerested in tauren too. but i played it before the patch, so almost all the creeps were bugged. i guess i might go back to it in retail.

Man, I like that sig of your's, 'cept it is really large.Hehe cheers! I was going to change my sig size but I got kicked off the computer by my brother and so I couldn't do anything about it
Sorry!!!
Is it a good size now? I think i might slice it down a bit
spastic-ninJa

That is quite a good size. You can still see the detail of the sig, which is good. Maybe you should experiment a bit so that you can fit in the largest signature possible (without being above Edgewize's specifications (see "Welcome to Warboards" announcement)).

That's a cool picture, but it's all big again...
if the admins will say it's bad than change it... but as long as they say nothin'... it's good as it's now.
I thing we sould be able to do sigs over 500*140... like 600*300... but I guess that people with slow comp will have to w8 a lot... too bad :(...

Not really. The max size for the signature image is 500x125. Your width is under the maximum limit, but your height isn't. Also, the whole signature itself must be 140 pixels in height. Just your image is 191, and with the text it is about 205. So your off approximately by 65 pixels. You probably need to fix that. The staff MIGHT not care. But if I were you, I would reduce the size, just to be safe.

I prefer your old sig, as this new sig is just a bit too strange for my liking, even if it does fit the sig size requirements.

I most likely will play on two PvP servers. That way I can play both factions and still have PvP goodness. But as it is.
Undead Rogue
Herbalism/Alchemy and First Aid
Human Mage
Leatherworking/Skinning
Those are the ones that hold highest regards to me. JS and I want to be alliance, but anotehr person I know are going to be Undead. I just love the Undead from waht I played in Stress Test.
I also will make for fun.
Tauren Shaman
Gnome Rogue
Undead Mage
Night Elf Druid
And that's about it. My opinion may change when I play open to understand it more. But the Mage and Rogue really interesting me more then anything. Being able to dish so much damage out with so many unique skills. I love it. And to be honest with you. In most every MMO I have played, I make a Rogue and/or a Mage. Hehe. Even though I do well as a Warrior/Tank, I prefer the life of the damage dealer.

Personally, I think female orcs look worse. Female tauren are just thinner than the males for the most part.

Human Paladin with Mining/Blacksmithing
Gnomish Rouge with Skinning/Mining (this will be my collection character of sorts)
Dwarf Hunter with Leatherworking/Engineering/First Aid
Of course, all of these will be on a PvP server =)

Everybody wants to be a Tauren. Something I've always wondered is, are Taurens still four times bigger than everyone else, and a whole lot more powerful, or is that just in WarCraft III?
Maegtelluma
10-04-2004, 7:03 PM
They're noticably bigger, but certainly not four times bigger. Probably about 1/3 bigger than an undead in height, a little taller than an Orc. Power is pretty evenly balanced among races, as far as I've seen.

Well, they're 3 or 4 times taller than a gnome... Race stats are pretty much the same for all races, but you may have a few points shifted around. However, stat progression on level-up is determined by class only as far as I know, so in the end, race doesn't really matter in terms of anything other than cosmetics.
