I think that most newbie mods/maps are unoticed, people only go for the best ones not thinking that the newbie mappers try a lot harder to make a good map/mod, (like me when trying to fix a bug with mm before i joined warboards) so, if you agree with me, join the campaign to start downloading newbie maps/mods

who says people dont download them? it depends on the member whether someone will pay attention to stuff submitted. A lot of times i dont download things from members i dont know or are knew, because a lot of times, i just dont have time. maybe some usefull tips for making people look at your stuff: present it well. dont go like "ooooh check out this map it is awsome1" because then no one will look at it. (im not saying anyone does that, just an example) giving a detailed discription of the map/mod, and maybe (although completely optional) post a screenshot or too. especially do not tell people "you'll have to look and see." because that doesnt make you look very proffessional, and isnt very atractive for getting people interested. i have to admit, though, i have been ignoring some peoples things based on their previous posts/personality, and i'll try to do better on that.

I agree with Nahotnoj that if you can't take the time to have a nice presentable description, it allows people to assume that you probably didn't put much effort in your map or mod either.
If I look at that person's posts and if they cannot take some time to write a legible and detailed description of their map or mod then it won't probably appeal to me or others either.

Most map makers don't seem interested in posting a decent map release thread. Just as Nahotnoj said, people tend to post "play my map plz". You can usually get more information off of the thread title than the contents.
It is absolutely vital to post a summary of the map and what features make your map worth playing. Just as most people want to know what a movie is about before they watch it, most people want to know what a map is before they play it.
Other useful points are to post screenshots of interesting features or nice visuals. Screenshots just convey what makes your map unique easier.
There are two reasons to post a decent map release thread:
1. We learn what we need to learn in order to play the map. Despite that I would only waste about 4 minutes blind playing a map (if that map sucks) I still don't want to bother with it.
2. We assume the quality of the poster reflects the quality of the map. If you can't spell in a post, do I have any reason to assume you can spell in a map? Every map I have that I consider a keeper has nearly impecible spelling. Hmmmmmmmmm...
However, as a warning to overachievers, I've seen map release threads that get too pretentious (mostly at BF) as well. For example, posting your map's entire, unabridged, 5 page-long backstory. Or writing up a cast of characters.
The key is to give a summary of the map and the benefits and features as concise as possible and as professional sounding as possible. Heck, just list off the features with bullets. I prefer it that way.
