this may be a noob question, i dunno, but;

I just finished making a map, and when i tested it out on B.net, i got an error message that said 'Unable to Authenticate map'...

If anybody knows what this is caused by, please tell me. thanks!

Here's what Blizzard support says:

Are you getting 'Unable to Authenticate Map' when trying to play a game?
This means that the StarCraft map file you have is corrupted or an outdated version.

Delete the .SCM file that is giving you problems. Then re-download the map, or join a game that will be using the map you want (StarCraft will automatically download the map from the game creator).

than... you're editor is corrupted... is the sc CD u have is original?

The editor isn't necessarily corrupted. It could be that there was just a one-time error of some sort with the creation of the map, maybe it was improperly protected, or maybe something within the map doesn't agree with other users.

Troubleshooting:
1. Is the map protected? If so, with what program?
2. Can you play the map offline?
3. Can you open the map in an editor and save another copy of it?
4. What editor did you use to make the map? What contribution did other editors make?
5. Is the file name too long?

you can 4get 5 cuz sc is auto cutting long names,
about editors... maybe he used StarForge's protector, which is making problems with the new patches...

The most common reasons why this comes up is because you have modified the map with SCMToolKit > fake authentication and that the long file name is too long.
