I've recently been doing alot of research on World Of WarCraft. Although numerous FAQ's exist that can be found on the Blizzard site and Forums, I thoguht i'd give one a go myself. Hopefully this will be a quick way for you to find out about what you want to know in terms of World of Warcraft.

So go ahead and ask your questions, and i'll make the best possible effort i can in answering them.

FAQ

Q: How many people can the servers support. Are they hoping for a million at a time?
A: The exact number has not yet been finalized. However, you can expect to see between 2,000 people, and 3,000 poeple per server. According to Katricia, a representive of Blizzard at Battle.net forums, "There will be a lot of servers. Names have not yet been assigned to them."

Q: Is it possible to party with other factions? For example, if I was an Undead Mage, could I meet up and go in a party with my friend, who is a Night Elf Druid?
A:Blizzards official response at this time is, "no." However, this is subject to change. Personally I expect to see certain servers that allow this type of gameplay.

They're estimating that each server will be able to handle 2 to 3 thousand players. As for a total number of registered WoW users, I don't know.

At one point in the design and planning phases they were going to allow it, but I think that now you can't ally with a character from the opposing faction. I'm not 100% sure though.

You are both correct.

Indeed. As of this point factions are going to be quite strict. Not only will you not be able to team up with players from other factions, but you won't even be able to enter the towns without being attacked by NPC guards. Although it's somewhat of a bummer, it would be somewhat strange to see an Undead paired up with a Night Elf :P. So your best bet would be to get all of your friends to play on the same faction, that way you'd be able form parties, and if you get enough people, form a guild for any guild related bonuses offered (Ooooh, gotta have that tabard :D)

On a side note, Blizzard has hinted that there will be certain quests that will allow you to sneak into other faction's cities and strongholds.

This should be very intreasting. I can think of all sorts of cool quests that would require this. I'm also pretty sure there will be other ways to get into enemy towns. However, I strongly agree wtih you Radlin, if you want to play wtih your friends, you should be from the same faction. (not race)
